We love our pets-, they comfort us each and every day, whether we are feeling happy or sad. Everyday we feel,see, and hear the love coming from animals. There are also many stray animals that don't have a home. ¨Did you know that homeless animals outnumber homeless people 5 to 1¨. This means that for very five people there is an animal. That's why there are so many stray animals across the world. Scientists say that most of the stray animals we see are abandoned animals. Which is another term pet abandonment. The majority of pets are obtained from acquaintances and family members. Twenty-six percent of dogs are purchased from breeders, 20 to 30 percent of cats and dogs are adopted from shelters and rescues, and 2 to 10 percent are purchased from pet shops. In addition, only 56% of dogs and 71% of cats that enter animal shelters are euthanized.
