Many people have the same misconception of gymnastics, it is a girly sport and does not require much work or very much muscle. (Wrong!) Also I have come across quite a few people who did not even believe gymnastics was considered a real sport to them at all. Those people soon learned they were very wrong, once I had explained to them what is required and everything you do for training in Gymnastics. This sport is far from easy and requires very hard mental and physical dedication. I started gymnastics when I was very young, just a short while after I started walking. When you walked in their gym all you saw were trophies everywhere, all over the walls. Once I started going to the competitions, we would travel all over, from hours away. When we got to the hotels for these competitions myself and the other girls would get together and have so much fun the night before. One night for example, we had some of the parents go out and buy some shaving cream and we went to town spraying each other all through the outside halls and stairs. I really did make some awesome friends and built bonds with them like real sisters. Then by the next morning it was back to business and all seriousness, training for the upcoming competitions, which were very competitive, everyone wanted to place that day. Also the running was before and after class and 100 calve muscle strength training exercises. We also went on weekends and the weekends were the worst for working out, they would have us do games that would push us to the limits. One of the games I remember vividly was something about frog hopping. It was about 20 of us girls all lined up on a mat in the pushup position, one person started by jumping over everyone one at a time then get in the pushup position herself then the next person would go and do the same thing and it went on until all of us had went around.
