Benefits in Space Exploration
Thesis: Space exploration is beneficial for anyone because of long-term survival of humanity in the future, new technologies/understandings, and increase in job opportunities.
President John F Kennedy once said, “We chose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.” In 1962, in Texas the Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort speech was delivered by Kennedy to a large crowd. This speech is about how sending astronauts to the moon is very important. Even though, it is years and years into the future a disaster will someday happen, whether it is natural or caused by the sun, it is possible that the Earth might not be habitable someday. Once the sun reaches Earth, the effects that will happen are disastrous. “The suns increased radiant energy reaching Earth will have vaporized the oceans, creating H2O greenhouse conditions that will raise temperatures by several hundred degrees, and killing off all plant and animal life” (Bridwell n.pag).
