Texting, calling, or just talking to someone else while driving has happened millions of times throughout years. To where most people feel like it’s fine just to reply to one text can’t hurt anybody. It’s just a normal thing to do, you do it because you feel like doing it. Most people don’t realize the dangers and risks they are putting themselves and other people in. When people text and drive, they feel like that talking to a friend or having to text is okay because they feel like they’re good at “multitasking.” While of course, these people are mostly, teenagers, including when “most cell phone use is highest among 16-24 year olds”(“Distracted Driving”). So in that case, about 11 teens die everyday due to texting and driving. The people who text and drive must not realize how bad it is to do it, that just by simply picking up a mobile device can put you and so many other people at risk. Driving alone is a huge responsibility.By texting and driving you increase the chances of getting into an accident. Texting and driving paired with one or multiple people in the vehicle, with it also being late at night or other variables, can increase a person chance to get into a car accident. “You are 6 times more likely to get into an accident, than being drunk” (“Texting and Driving Accident Statistics”). By picking up your phone, you can lose concentration on the road, and start to move out of the lane, maybe into a ditch or hitting someone else. With 3,477 deaths, 391,000 injures, and 660,000 people using cellphones in the year of 2015, it should be clear that texting and driving is not safe at all.
