Special Education is a wonderful program built to help children who may need extra assistance. It is very important for the guardian to stay in the loop and be kept up to date with everything. Referral, Evaluation, Individualized Education Program (IEP), Placement, and Annual Reviews are the steps that carry a child and guardian through the special education program. The fact that special education can be free to families is an amazing thing, because a child should be able to get the help they need to excel in school. There is no doubt that the child should be kept in the classroom with nondisabled children. Inclusion is vital to a disabled child’s education.

In the “Special Education Process” you tube video from Parent Network it states that, “the committee of special education includes; the child’s parents, Special Ed teachers, regular education teachers and other professionals.” A speech pathologist would be included under the professional and specialist category. My job as a speech pathologist is to help children meet their communication needs.
Rooted in the broader human rights movement, inclusive instruction supports with legislation that addresses educators to deliver appropriate educational programming for all students. It is also liable upon social policies that describes education as a human right and not a privilege. I would explain inclusion as a way of thinking and acting that allows every individual to feel acknowledged and valued. Special Education is very important for those who have disabilities. Parents should be included in all of the five steps of the program. It is most likely best for the child to be put in the inclusion classroom setting. This allows the child to communicate with other students and watch how they learn. It will also help to build communication skills. I have seen one on one how a child with a disability can positively impact a nondisabled child and vice versa. However, the teacher, parent, child and peers all need to work together for the best education
