There hasn’t ever been huge controversy over movie tickets, but there should be. Currently, the rated R movie ticket purchase age is seventeen years old. It would be logical to change the purchase age to sixteen years old and there are a few justifiable reasons to prove this statement true. Young adults who are sixteen should be allowed to purchase rated R movie tickets because they most likely have access to the same type of content on their mobile devices, and if they were able to purchase their own tickets, the movie theater would increase their income because there would be a rising number of tickets sold. The thought of a sixteen year old acquiring the ability to drive 70 miles per hour down the interstate is ridiculous when the same young adults cannot buy a rated R movie ticket, if teenagers have the responsibility and maturity to drive a car, they should most likely be mature enough to view a movie that is rated R. When teens are old enough to drive, they enter a new stage of freedom to go places on their own without a guardian. This era of freedom should also include the ability to enter a rated R movie without being accompanied by an elder. …show more content…

A great example of this is Netflix. Netflix is an online site that holds tons of movies. People pay $8.99 a month to access these movies using their Netflix account. Many of the young adults who have this, have the ability to watch many different types of rated R movies whenever they want to. Since most young adults have access to rated r movies to begin with it would make sense if the theaters changed the purchase age.
