Hunger and poverty will always exist. Needy nations are stuck in a black hole, in which, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. This situation could be fixed, if the poor nations had assistance from those who could spare a few goods. Is it morally good for the better off nations to help or support those who are in need? Who benefits from this sponsorship in the long run? Poverty-stricken nations could seek relief, if the silk-stocking nations aid in supplying goods. Many of the moneyed nations are torn between helping or not, those who are less fortunate. Jonathan Swift and Garrett Hardin have two very different opinions on whether to aid those who were not born into riches. The bitter or sweet side may lead one to agree with Swift or Hardin, while looking at their point of views of resources, population control, and hunger.
Resources tend to be valuable and precious. Some resources cannot be replenished in a timely manner, making them nonrenewable. This means once the nonrenewable resources are used up, they are simply gone. Swift had come up with a proposal of raising babies until they are of age, then eat and make accessories out of the children. He says the flesh of children would make great clothing or accessories, after consumption of the meat. He states, “Those who are more thrifty (as I must confess the times require) may fly the carcass; the skin of which artificially dressed will make admirable gloves for ladies, and fine summer boots for gentlemen” (Swift 383). The makings of a child can be sold to the richer, leading to the start of building the poor nation. All parts of the young children will be put to good use. The more babies consumed, the more clothing and accessories the money-less will have. Women can bear, birth, and raise a child up until the kid is of age, sell the child and make shillings off her producing. Women can restart the cycle again once she is ready
