Growing Up Tethered Technology keeps advancing day by day. We depend more on our cell phones to complete tasks. One may even feel lost or disconnected without their cell phones. Young kids have cell phones or a tablet. Most people would not make it through a day without their phone. People are tethered to their cell phones checking their social media, connecting with family, and applications. Social media has had a major impact on society. Today everyone has some sort of social media account. Social media ranges from Facebook to Twitter or Instagram. One feels the need to have a social account. People stay on their phone checking their accounts. The more friends on social media you have the better. Some cannot hold a conversation face to face anymore. Everything is done online. Some feel the need to post all their life on social media. People cannot put their phone down for long. Phones ring all the time with notifications. One may feel they have to immediately check. A common theme is taking place where as people feel that cell phones are starting to take over others daily lives. Many people go through their day to day lives not even relizing how often they are on their cell phones. In the article, “Our Cell Phones, Ourselves” the author Christine Rosen talks about how cell phones are starting to become a necessity in every way towards peoples lives. Rosen talks about both the good and bad effects of cell phones and how they have changed the way in which we work our daily life. Although I think cell phones can be necissary, the constant need for use could be the beginning of how cell phones will take over our every day lives.
