Sports betting has come to the spotlight in recent years, and is right after poker in popularity of gambling, which comes in first place ("Sports Gambling Facts and Statistics."). This means that betting on sports events and players is the second most popular form of betting throughout the United States. However, it is only legal in one state throughout America, and that place is Las Vegas, Nevada. There are many other sports where you can bet on sports, whether that is illegally online, or on players, like fantasy football. Most states have made it legal to bet on fantasy football. However, there a few select that do not allow it, like Iowa, Alabama, and Montana, among others ("Which Daily Fantasy Sports Sites Allow Which States?"). I think that this needs to change because it would add money to the economy, it is a skill, and it can free up government resources. Currently the government has people going around and looking for offshore gambling agencies. I do not think that this is a good use of our resources. We have real problems on our hands, and illegal sports betting should not be at the top. Instead of looking for our most wanted men, or trying to help out other people we are spending time finding people who are trying to bet on sports. It simply does not make any sense to me, and it needs to be fixed. We are not going to become any better as a country because we found an illegal sports better, but we will become a safer country if we get a wanted convict off of the streets, so we need to spend our sources where they are

Although many citizens question, should all forms of gambling be legalized as a means to support public education? To the best of my knowledge, gambling on fantasy sports remains illegal in the state of Washington alongside five other states in the United States. I think that if the three solutions I provided are carried out, it will make a great impact on the rising gambling addiction rate. Spending extra revenue from states that have legalized gambling to fund enough addiction clinics and programs to meet each state’s need is the first step toward decreasing addiction rates. The second step is voting to pass more ordinance and restriction laws so the gambling industry will not expand out of control and children will not have easy access to gambling machines. I think if “we” as a community work together toward getting our state government to adopt the ideas in the solutions I provided, we can set an example for other communities and in the future lower addiction rates instead of quietly allowing them to increase.
