I have been in countless positions of leadership, but hardly any of them have been instances. For example I am currently Troop 134's Troop Quartermaster, Prior to that I was a Patrol leader for at least 3 consecutive terms. The thing is being on the Teen Advisory Board at the John Ed Keeter public library or the Co-Leader to the both the Newspaper and Yearbook at my school, none of them apply to a specific instance. So while it is not the most glamorous thing ever, for my eagle project I helped at my non-profit school with an event I called the Library Creation Corner Assignment, which has the same acronym as my school name. Throughout everyday tasks in the classroom, or outside of school, I step up and lead those who need to be led. I constantly find new opportunities to lead others and help the situation any way I can. Every summer the band has a marching band camp for a week straight that we must all attend. Being an experienced band member, I step up and assist all underclassmen and show then where to go and what they need to be doing. Instead of getting frustrated when giving the freshman directions, I am calm and collect and walk them step by step until they understand, something most leaders would not have time or patience for. With many plans to help others and lead within my community, I believe that I have what it takes to be a strong, and powerful leader for the National Honor Society.

Involvement in marching band, field hockey, and various other activities has given me many opportunities to show leadership. My first leadership opportunity was in eighth grade when I became a WEB leader. While I was a WEB leader, I helped incoming sixth graders get adjusted to middle school life and find their classes on the first day. I also met up with the sixth graders in my group once a month at lunch and got to know them while I asked how school was going and helped them with any issues they had. The leadership positions I have held are, starting most currently, an Adult Leader for my Boy Scout Troop in Post Falls, ID. Through my troop I was also the Senior Patrol Leader for three terms, an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for two terms, a Patrol Leader for three terms, and a Scribe for approximately two terms. Each of these terms were six months in length. In the Order of the Arrow (Scouting’s “National” Honor’s Society), I was a Chapter Chief for one year, and was most currently my Lodge Elections Chief for about six months. In 2011, Andrew Bolton’s stunning presentation of fashion as art, in ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ opened my eyes to the work of a designer that would become the backbone to the majority of my undergraduate study. As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. Being a leader in almost any given situation has been an innate quality that I have possessed for as long as I can remember. I have always found myself nominating myself for leadership positions. My most recent and fulfilling leadership position was in my eleventh and twelfth grade school years when I held the position of Drum Major for Purnell Swett High School’s Marching Rams.
