Instructional Leadership Paper

Many authors and researchers will agree there is limited literature regarding exactly what instructional leadership is. However, while broad agreement exists on the importance of instructional leadership, there is less consensus on what instructional leadership actually is. (HORNG, 2010) Many instructional leaders are put into positions with unrealistic expectations without any formal training. I think it is essential for a leader to understand what instructional leadership actually is to perform their job efficiently and effectively.

(Theodore, 2015) Many leaders are unaware of the importance of peer coaching. Some are oblivious to what it takes to help grade levels create a budget for supplies and materials needed for the year. Few have informed novice teachers how imperative it is to create and adhere to a daily schedule, Almost none spend chunks of time in the classroom modeling effective and efficient methods for instruction. Until leaders are properly trained, they cannot add to teacher quality or student achievement.
As I described in my previous paper I have participated in many leadership roles. I have been a host teacher for two up and coming teachers from colleges in the local area. I have also served as a Subject Area leader for fourth and fifth grade. I was in charge of the Science curriculum and approving achievement in that content area for both grades. I have experience with building a rapport by working as a peer teacher. I have built the skill of patience by serving as the PTA president of the school and the community. It is a hard feat trying to please everyone and be fair. I have also learned how to be a parent liason by serving in the role of student activities coordinator. I rely on the parents a lot to make the events successful. I am going to professional development to promote self-growth. I will continue furthering my education at Kaplan university to make me a better
