The first day of school is always very stressful and full of fear for the incoming underclassmen. Going back is usually a complex process for the students, as well as for the parents. It’s the time of the year where the halls are full of not-so-cheerful students aching to exit the corridors, along with teachers attempting to fill their tired heads with useful information. While getting back to school is supposed to be a great thing; due to seeing friends, freshmen are living a horror movie during their first day of high school. The alarm began to go off, the loud sound with decibels higher than the average caused me to jump out of bed at alert. We pulled up to the front of the school and got in the drop off line. As I watched students climb out of cars while saying goodbye to their parent(s), and walk to the front entrance I thought they looked like zombies. I kept thinking to myself, “What am I about to walk into?” I kept reciting in my head what my sister told me a while ago; “High school is like a horror movie to freshmen. The seniors are the slashers, and you are the victims. Don’t be afraid.” That statement never left my head. The bell began to ring. Everyone rushed in to find their first-period class. I had no idea where I was going. This whole place was all new to me. I looked at my schedule, looked at the room numbers, and looked at the buildings. Going back, and starting my first day at a new school was extremely frightening. I didn’t know what to expect. All I had to do was anticipate what my sister expressed to me. She told me that the first day is always the scariest, and the freshman always think it’s like an old slasher movie. They believe they are one of the teen camp counselors and they are about to be hunted down by Jason. I found out that high school wasn’t what they told me it was going to be like. High school was just a normal, ordinary place and was nothing like what I had feared. I realized that someone might tell you something that is not true, just to scare you. They tell these types of things to try to make your life more stressful than what it should be. You can’t always believe others, and you have to go in thinking positive. I thought to myself that in order to convey a positive action, you must be able to develop a positive vision, and that is what I now teach to others who are
