Static. The black and white pixelation on the screen, and the god-awful noise that accompanied it. I think my first memory was waking up to TV static. It was in the middle of the night, and waking up to that sound with the visual meant my VHS tape was over. I remember crying because the movie had ended. I would wait for my mom to come into the room and click play. She did. I would watch movies to fall asleep every night growing up. Movies have always been a huge part of my life, even then. Without movies in my life, there is no way that I would be the person who I am today. Escapism and realization are things that continually draw me to film. Movies have always been an escape for me, partially because my parents separated shortly after I was
Movies Have you ever seen the movies The Last Song, Footloose, and Polar Express. Watching movies is a distraction, when I watch movies I never get anything else done. My favorite genre of movies are romance. I like action movies too but it depends on who is in it.
Billy Thompson and Sam Westfield were similar in many ways. Since a young age they both has excelled at sports and both loved more then anything, the sport of football. While growing up, the boys did not know each other and probably thought they would never have too. But all of that changed with the diagnosis.
Films are able to draw spectators towards the film as they are able to engage with certain elements featured in the film. Such elements include relating to the character and their lives and relating to props and settings presented in the mise en scene. If a spectator was to see a movie that contains elements he or she is able to relate to, that same person would engage with the film even more thus enhancing the experience of such viewers. Personally, my experience of films elevates when I can relate to some of the elements that emulate reality. There are several versions of art that emulate reality in their pieces (examples include paintings, theatre, literature,
Whether it’s George Lucas’s classic space opera “Star Wars” or Quentin Tarintino’s gory action films, everyone loves movies. From action to satire there is a movie for everyone, but the medium in which we view these movie are always changing. The cinema has held its title as the go-to for watching the latest flicks, but with the exponential strides, we have made in entertainment technology it seems as if this era is coming to an end. From laptops to tablets you can view a new movie with the push of a button while in the comfort of your own home. This new medium for viewing has divided the population, as we compare and contrast the differences between the two before making a decision on what should our source of entertainment be , cinema or
middle of paper ... ... In final analysis, the motion picture is the one that goes deeper inside the spectator’s mind. Other mediums such as still picture and theatrical play also provide the visual and aural elements for the spectator, yet they seem to be inferior to the motion picture in that they lack the reality, affinity, and creativity in terms of use of time and space. The levels of emotions such as attention, memory, imagination, emotion, and unity, which were introduced by Munsterberg, indicates how the spectator perceives the elements of the film and ends up with it.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
To put it simply, there is nothing more I would rather do than influence how people see good and the bad in our world, and to me there is only one medium for that, film.
Across the globe watching movies started as an asylum for the working class, but slowly the ideas being portrayed onscreen have evolved resulting in movie going to become almost religious. Movies have the ability to leave us in awe as a result of their ability to give us a glimpse of a dream, however unrealistic. I myself am a huge fan of the film industry. I started to feel a certain reverence for it because of the way it inspired me to dream and gave birth to my ambitions. This ultimately led to me to go into an in depth investigation of whether I was the only one who felt this way and what affects had been created because of this feeling.
On the Monday October 27th, 2014, for the first time in 4 years I did not wake up at 5:30 in the morning, I was not putting on a green skivvy shirt and shorts. There was no formation, no one that was higher command I had to report to, telling me where I had to go, what time I had to eat breakfast, what was I doing this day or what our platoon plans were for the day. There were no PT (physical training) I had to do this morning. Instead, I woke up grab a regular t-shirt, khaki shorts, and my two sea bags full of clothing and gear that I collected during my time in the Marine Corps. I threw everything in my vehicle and drove from Camp Pendleton, California to Quincy, Illinois. Within two weeks I was accepted to Southern Illinois University Carbondale. For three days, I stayed at the
It was my fault, no one else’s, the time where failure hit harder than someone beating a drum. End of spring 2013 I found out that I was repeating the grade all over again, never have I imagined myself being in that position till that year. Leading up to this was beginning of ninth grade year, terrified knowing that I wasn't going to know anybody I was going to be alone. I went through so much emotionally it began to show the first few weeks of high school. Constantly having anxiety attacks where I end up staying the entire day in the office since I kept crying eyes out.
It was all fun and games until we heard the sirens. We went to the cops terrified that we were in so much trouble but we didn't know why, once the police told us we did nothing wrong, we all learned a very important lesson. Ask for permission before you do things. It was a bright sunny summer day in August and my friends and I went down to CMH high school to play football. Me and my friend were captains and we picked out teams. A couple of touchdowns later we heard the sirens “Wee-Woo Wee-Woo”,we were scared out of our minds.
Thumbs Out A girlfriend of mine once defended me to her father by saying, calmly, “Not everyone who wanders is lost.” The dad kicked me out of the house anyway. But the damage had been done. Not everyone who wanders is lost.
The first movies were in black and white and did not have any sound. As time passed by, the way of making movies changed to where sound was implemented, then they made the movies in full color. Today, movies have special effects that are that have made them very realistic. There are two ways people can watch movies, one is at home and the other is at a theatre. Watching a movie at home is better than watching a movie at the theatre.
Every since I can remember I have liked to watch movies, I would never watch a scary
Movies take us inside the skin of people quite different from ourselves and to places different from our routine surroundings. As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
