Racial identity in twenty-first century American
Coming from China and now have been living in United States for many years. I still found it is fascinating that there are so many different identities in the United States, from different ethnics, sexual orientations, political positions and so on. I came here with the America dream like many other who came here before me, I believed that America is one of the greatest nation, a land has the values that the people believe in.
During the first 7 years I was in America, I would say that I didn't care much about what was going on in the world. Not until earlier this year, I started to pay more attention to the American politics and culture. I found out America is a very different place than the country I think it is before I come here. Especially when our new president got elected this year who is completely opposite of everything America represent as a nation. He publicly insulted minorities, women, disables. He vowed that he will build a wall between Mexico and America, to stop Muslim entering United States and refuse accept the scientific evidence that climate change is real.
