Personal Narrative: My Trip To Hawaii

Christmas morning had brought a wonderful suprise; we were going to go to Hawaii! My siblings and I were so excited and eagerly counted down the days. As the day arrived and we went to the airport, everything seemed like a dream. Leaving the cold weather of Utah behind, we boarded the plane. The stewards and stewardesses were wearing laies and the other people on the plane seemed just as happy to be getting away. The flight was long. As I looked out of the window, it was wondrous and disconcerting to see the ocean in every direction- no land in sight. The sun shone bright and high in the sky when the plane landed. The ocean was a brilliant blue and the palm trees swayed in a wind that smelled like flowers. It was kind of humid but I was too busy soaking up that wonderful moment. The house …show more content…

Soon enough, the day arrived and we had to leave. Our flight wasn’t until that night so we spent the day in Honolulu. We spent more time at the beach and we got to see the ‘Iolani Palace. We had worn tons of sunscreen but the sun still managed to tan us. The flight home didn’t go well at all. There were many sick passengers on the plane and it’s hard to fall asleep on a plane.
Arriving back in Utah made me realize just how much I had missed being home. I had missed the mountains-their presence is reassuring. I had even missed the snow. It seemed like we had never left. I know now that I can fall in love with other places around the world but my home in Utah will always hold the biggest place in my heart. There is something about calling it my home that makes it different from any other place that I have traveled to.
One day I may go back to Hawaii and rekindle the love that I have for the island, but for now I am happy and in love with the landscape of Utah. There are beautiful sunsets and sunrises here too.
