Personal Narrative: My First Kosovo War

When I was four years old a war broke out in Kosovo, the Serbian soldiers barged into Kosovo killing thousands of innocent kosovars. I remember the day of the war back then better then I can remember what I did yesterday. I was playing behind the brick red buildings of bregu diellit (Sunny hill) with my best friend Blinera. We were playing catch with a blue soft rubber ball. The sun shined through the valley that was behind the buildings. My brother Albion and his friends were playing in front of the buildings with a bunch of his friends. While we were playing catch I asked Blinera to see what everyone was up to in the front of the building. As Blinera and I walked by the side of the brick red buildings, about 5 Serbian soldiers wearing black ski masks with loaded Ak-74’s started to come down in front of the buildings they fired shots in the air. My brother and I slept inside the tent for about 5 days. The days were cold and nights were muddy. One cold day I remember I had overheard my parents speaking to my aunts that a pregnant lady was shot because she couldn’t stay in the camp any longer. That afternoon it was raining really hard and we were given nylon sheets to cover our self’s so we all stayed in one huge group. The next morning I woke up and there was a smell of the forest and the cold crisp air. I ran to my mom, she was sitting down on a brown wooden crate. While she sat there I was in front of her asking” where is dad” and she responded back with an extremely sad voice “ he went to get us something to eat” as I waited in front of her I had a little black hat and I pulled it down so I covered my whole face from the cold
