It was around Christmas time. My family and I were in Florida for a week, visiting my parents best friends. We were going out on a boat ride to go dolphin watching. My dad called me over to get the boat ready. The girls were inside making lunch because we were going out for a long time, but my sister was inside playing Minecraft on the Ipad. My brother was on the bed, on his phone. “Eli, Lucy get out here now and help!” My dad yells as I untie the rope for the anchor. “One sec!” Eli says as my sister walks out the back door to come help my dad and I. My mom and her friend, Tammy, come walking out with some bags of food in there hands. Finally my brother comes out, sludging and dragging his feet behind him. After a while the boat is finally ready to leave. The engine starts up as Gary turns the …show more content…
Sure enough we spotted some dolphins a little ways from shore. It was after a few minutes when the dolphins started to swim farther and farther from shore. We willingly followed them. The dolphins had led us out about 3 miles from land when suddenly all of the dolphins disappeared into nothingness. We stopped and had our lunch on the boat. After lunch I really had to “go” so I jumped in the water. The second I made contact with the water I heard a loud shriek coming from the boat. I quickly peaked my head above the water. What I saw was like a scene from a horror movie, there were a million flies swarming the boat. My mom and sister had a towel over their heads. I jumped on the boat as Gary started the engine. No matter how fast we went there would still be flies. We couldn't kill them either because for every fly we kill, twe more would come and replace it. After countless minutes of flying across the water trying to get away from the apocalyptic amount of flies, we finally got away from all of the ALIVE flies, but we STILL had to get rid of all the dead
It was a warm rainy June night the humidity was high which made it even harder to breathe on the crammed boat. My family was asleep on the constantly rocking boat suddenly the boat shook, but my family was still fast asleep. I couldn’t seem to fall asleep so I got up and stepped out on the cold wet steel boats upper deck to get some air. When I got outside I realized that it was pouring bucket sized rain. I saw increasingly large waves crash furiously against the lower deck. Hard water droplets pelted my face, I could taste the salt water in my mouth from the spray of the ocean. Suddenly A massive wave slammed hard against the ship and almost swallowed the boat. Wind gusts started kicking up. I held onto the rail grasping it as if it were my prized possession. Suddenly I was blown
Whales living in captivity become aggravated and have been known to take out anger on themselves by self harming. In the pools they live in, metal bars are placed in between the pools to prevent the killer whales from swimming to another pool. On several occurrences, the whales have attempted to bite and break the metal bars. This leaves the whales with broken teeth and a risk of infection. Infections in killer whales can lead to death in many cases. If a whale gets an infection, they have to be taken out of the pool and placed into another pool by themselves to prevent any problems with other killer whales they live with. In many cases, whales with infections need serious care from whale specialists.
Lastly, with dealing with groups there are many task group techniques and concepts that are associated. For example, there are four active listening techniques that are effective for macro practice. The research states that the four techniques are charting, balloons, dolphins, and parking lot. As previously stated, my group used the balloon analogy when brainstorming for many tasks. We also used the Dolphin analogy. The Dolphin analogy is defined as acknowledging and validating every idea and then move on. It is referred to dolphin or whale watching where you will identify the mammal (acknowledge), take pictures (validate), and then move one. This analogy was conveyed in the third task where we had to create a song. While brainstorming a song,
The day my grandparents told me they wanted to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course I wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family.
b)Some Marine parks treat these dolphins with anti-depressant, Prozac or tranquilizer, which causes them to become even more stressed.
Imagine, homes destroyed, a town with no electricity, and nothing but destruction left. This was the scene for many people after hurricane Sandy touched down and swept through their city. A local high school football team, the Beach Channel Dolphins were set to go to the playoffs . Their team was scattered, some arriving late to the game and their team only had two practices prior to the big game. If anyone had an excuse to not play, it was the Dolphins, but they weren't going to let a hurricane stop them from playing. Although they lost, they proved that no matter what someone faces, he/she can persevere(Source B). The Dolphins aren’t the only ones who have faced, or are going to face adversity. We all, at some point or another, will most
All these characters had a big impact on their lives in the stories Hatchet, Guts, and Island of the Blue Dolphins there are life changing moments that are unbelievable. Hatchet is about a boy named Brian who is stuck in the middle of a forest. In the story Guts, Gary Paulsen is a volunteer emergency worker that one day has a very important emergency involving a man who had a heart attack. In the story Island of the Blue Dolphins a girl named Karana is stranded on an island and she chooses to take care of a dog that killed her brother. In the stories Hatchet, Guts, and Island of the Blue Dolphins the characters all had life changing experiences.
Everyone who has gotten to experience the fun of going to SeaWorld will always remember Shamu and his friends doing amazing tricks in the water, but as an innocent little kid, you don’t know any better than to admire such intelligent animals. But what you don’t know as a little kid, is what goes on outside of the show. Trust me, it is not good. Killer whales should not be kept in captivity because it is inhumane, and they are too big and intelligent for the environment they are put in.
In the books Hatchet, Guts, and Island of the Blue Dolphins the characters all go through horrifying experiences. In Hatchet, a boy named Brian is forced to fly a plane after the pilot dies of a heart attack. In Island of the Blue Dolphins, a girl named Karana and her brother were left behind by their clan. In Guts, a man named Gary Paulsen answers emergency ambulance calls and witnesses many deaths from people.
Orca whales do not like to be taken from their family, held captive for many decades and put with other whales that they do not know. No other living organism on this planet would like to be put through the same thing. Orca whales are highly social animals, they are very intelligent, and are very emotional. If they are kept away from other whales, fed intermittently and received little attention from staff makes them get very emotional and can lead to death of people and the whales. Orca whales should not be held captive; they are beautiful creatures that are not great for people’s amusement and if they are treated poorly, they will act poorly.
This is the story of a kid named Eugene. The story of a kid about 5.2 feet brown hair and brown eyes. Now Eugene was a strange kid, he never seemed to fit in anywhere he went. Except the aquarium, and little Eugene was just fascinated by one particular species, the dolphin. Some people would even say he was obsessed. Every day Eugene would swim in his bright pink kitty pool, eat his favorite snack tuna fresh from the Nuta can, and make clicks almost as if he was attempting a dolphin noise.
Immediately, I angled my position and went for a dead sprint toward the water. I jumped off the cliff. I never felt anything like it; the trajectory had me flying through the air for longer than I expected. A surge of adrenaline pulsed through my body, bringing a new sense of life to me. The scorching heat went away as gravity pulled my body toward the water, bringing me a pleasant breeze through my fall. Then, I finally hit the water. I didn’t stick a solid landing, as I went head first into the water. I panicked and opened my eyes under the murky water, only to see nothing but dirt and sediments float around me. I kept sinking and saw a monstrous fish swim right in front of my face. At that very moment, my body went into overdrive, and I managed to project myself back up to the surface.
...mazingly) and we watched the engines start up, with water whirling everywhere below the surface. I ran to the front of the boat to look down into the water and I kept noticing all these little white puffs everywhere. From where I was, they kind of looked like plastic bags floating through the water. I called Kristi and my dad over to see them. As we were watching, these poofy little balls kept appearing out of nowhere, there must have been hundreds. Finally, a really big one floated its way into our line of vision and from the eighth deck we were able to see what they were. Jellyfish! Cute little iridescent balls of cotton.
I awoke, there was a crash on the upper deck. I heard a thunderous crackling from my head above. I ran up the stairs and what I saw devastated me. The small wooden boat was completely coated in billowy flames."Help, help, somebody please!"I slowly moved towards the sound being careful to dodge flames as much as possible.
Introduction One particularly interesting sea creature is the whale shark, formally known as Rhincondon typus; it was first discovered in 1828 by Andrew Smith (Rowat 2012). This large fish is found globally in warm tropical oceans and prefers to stay within 200 meters of the ocean’s surface in waters ranging from 4.2 to 28.7 degrees Celsius (Stevens 2006). This creature can be found all across the globe in warm tropical seas. Aggregations of whale sharks have been seen off the coast of Australia at times, although it is primarily a creature of solitude. Whale sharks are filter feeders that consume plankton as well as small fish and are harmless to humans.
