Brick walls are always going to show up in our lives to prove to us how badly we want something. One brick wall that I have faced in my life has to do with when I was younger and played softball. I was the newest member of the team and I had never played the sport before. I was always interested in watching softball, and finally decided to play on a recreational team with my close friend. All of the other girls had played for a few years already, and had grasped the skill. I on the other hand, was just learning all of the skills and wasn’t the best. Each practice, I would really try hard to play at the same skill level as all of the other girls, but it was hard to instantly be good at something new. I swung and I missed the ball. Strike one. The second pitch came fast-paced and I was ready to hit it. As I took my swing, my bat was held too high and the catcher had already caught the ball. Strike two. Now, it was my last swing, and I was very determined to hit it and right as the ball flew to me, I swung the bat too early. Strike three. Here I was, the newest member on the recreational team who had just struck out. Although all of the girls on my team were supportive, I was very upset because I didn’t get a hit. That night when I got home, all I could think about was quitting softball. I strongly despised it and didn’t want to humiliate myself again. However, my parents would not let me quit. Instead, my dad and I went outside everyday and practiced batting and catching so that I would be more prepared and confident in my next game. I could tell that I was getting better, and hoped that all of my hard work would eventually pay off. I practiced batting and my hits started improving. Finally, I felt confident for my game and was really excited to play against the other
