Soaring metal rails, twisting and turning as if it paid no heed to gravity, peaked above me; I recognize Six Flags Magic Mountain immediately. A second later, a blurred object bullets along the rails, faint screams of joy reaching into the bus. As if on cue, the once peaceful bus was brought to life by the echo of the screams. Those who were asleep awoke to the excited buzzing of eight graders, including my friend Kaitlyn whom I was seated next to. She yawns off the rest of her drowsiness as we join the fray of chirping voices. As soon as the buses parked, everyone desperately filed in a line to collect their tickets and rush off to the entrance. My friends and I luckily slipped near the front thanks to Dartanyum, the tallest out of all of …show more content…
I, who had only ever ridden simple rides in Disneyland, felt utter reluctance to board the dubious looking seats that would speed through high altitudes. "You've never been on a real coaster!?" Karl exclaimed upon my confession. "Well, you're gonna love this one." Despite my reluctance, I was coerced onto the ride, my regret steadily climbing with the coaster. But view from the top was breathtaking, an expanse of land that carried sights of modern civilization spread out before me. Even though the sight was as fleeting as a perfect snowflake, it was something that I would never forget. Soon after the plunge I was previously dreading claimed a small bit of my lifespan. After a few rides, we attended lunch where we feasted on hot dogs. As I sat down, I swat away a buzzing insect, thinking it was a fly. But my friends looked at me with horror, because what I absentmindedly hit was a large bumblebee. "Dude that was hardcore even I couldn't do that!" Mikaela mistook my obliviousness for bravery. I shudder at the thought of what could've happened to me. Waiting at the Roaring Rapids line with Dartanyum, Kaitlyn, and
On this ride riders experience the Sun, Mars, the Asteriod Belt, Sattilites, and the Moon. During this ride the space craft shaped car will speed down a dark purple track. This ride also offers a one of a kind single seat at the sheer point of the space shuttle shaped car giving the rider a once in a lifetime experience. The ride will deliver a very thrilling ride with the ride twisting around itself. This will produce a very intense ride. Apollo 11 being the first space shuttle to accomplish the first moon landing will make this ride have excellent theming and will make you feel like its real. The ride will cause riders to feel all the insane moments these astronauts had when they were the first men on the moon. The ride will put rides through a series 9 elements, including 3 inversions. Rides will spiral up the first hill and it will be the first of its type. Also with the outer seats will provide a similar ride to coasters similar to skyrush nevertheless this roller coaster will be the first roller coaster with winged seats to go upside down. This all causes this coaster one of the ultimately unique roller
Finally reaching the top was the greatest feat we could have ever accomplished. Being at the top of the mountain was like standing on top of the World. Looking down over the surrounding farmland and towns one could really appreciate the wonder that is Nature. The World below so tiny one could pick it up and make it snow by shaking it, just like one of those snow globes.
We’re both looking at the top of the roller coaster track begging and pleading that we be taken off. “I don’t want to ride, somebody get me off!” My life had flashed before my eyes as well as my best friends. We began to tell each other that we loved one another. Before we knew it we were at the top of the roller coaster looking down at all of the people who were walking around still living and breathing enjoying funnel cakes, turkey legs and ice cream. As for us at the top of the ride were having panic attacks and screaming as loud as we could but no one seemed to hear us. We were getting ready to have the ride of our lives.
After eating our sack lunches, our group of five decided to enter the park. I can hear the roller coaster tracks and machinery almost sounding like a train, watching the faces of the people. After...
On the winding, mountainous seven-mile drive, my ears crackled and popped as we ascended through the mountains. Suddenly, a mother black bear emerged alongside the road with her three little cubs wandering closing behind her, so I quickly grabbed my camera to capture the image of these striking animals. Approaching Clingmans Dome, I observed numerous dying trees and areas of bareness towering the Spruce-fir forest. Finally, I arrived at the Forney Ridge Parking Area below the summit and began the short, steep one-half mile hike on the paved spiral concrete ramp leading to the observation tower. The sun filtered through the misty-fog as I climbed higher, the mountain air had a fresh scent, and the breeze was slightly chilly. As I reached the top of the observation tower, I experienced some shortness of breath from the 6,643 feet of high elevation, so I took a moment to rest before enjoying the view. The concrete circular platform surrounding the tower provided an awe- inspiring panoramic view of the scenery for miles. The incredible scenery looked like an artist’s palette with vivid hues of green, shades of brown, and touches of yellow speckled throughout the landscape. The natural wonders in sight were breathtaking, just inspirational beauty. As I peered upward, I felt a sense of floating in a sea of clouds as they rolled in and out
At the summit, the view of the surrounding mountain range is spectacular. The panorama offers a view of hills and smaller mountains. Some people during their lives climb many small hills. However, to have the most accurate view of the world, I must be dedicated to climbing the biggest mountains I can find. Too often people simply hike across a flat valley without ascending because they content themselves with the scenery. The mountain showed me that I cannot content myself with the scenery. When night fell upon the summit, I stared at the slowly appearing stars until they completely filled the night sky. Despite the windy conditions and below freezing temperatures, I could not tear myself away from the awe-inspiring beauty of the cosmos. Similarly, despite the frustration and difficulties inherent in scientific study, I cannot retreat from my goal of universal understanding.
When I was younger I would constantly pester my mom about what her life was like in Mexico. From what her life was like to what animals they had on the farm; I was always curious. As I grew older I asked questions less and less, thinking I would never get a chance to see the place my mom had once called home. Neither of us ever thought she’d return after coming to America in hopes of better opportunities nearly two decades ago. Despite how I felt at the time, I am glad to have had the chance to visit Mexico.
Nature’s Beauty After a long and hot eight-mile hike up to Half Dome, I stopped for a moment at its base before continuing on. I sat there breathing in the fresh thin air at 8000 ft above sea level with nothing but the little shade from a nearby tree. I sat there and watched as other hikers staggered to the top, I remember feeling amused as I watched the cheeky little squirrels stealing each other's food and running from one tree to the next. I just sat there for a while and soaked it all in, mesmerized by the 360-degree view of nothing but beautiful mountains and trees for miles.
We begin to board the sharp red and yellow spaceship cart. I sat next to Carson while Cooper and Patrick sat in front of us. As we got strapped in I look at Carson and told him my fear of roller coasters. I was so scared to hear his reaction but what he said after that was something I never saw coming. He told me that he was also scared and he has never rode a roller coaster. Thank god I’m not the only one. I ecstatic to hear that my friend was also
I figured this would be the only way to absolve myself of fear. The ride was empty and it was my time to step up and experience what everyone saw as entertaining and I just see as dreadful. I steeped on to the rusty metal and made my way down the side of the ride. I passed a seat that was coated in vomit; so I had no other choice but to sit in the front. My friends came and sat behind me after someone cleaned up the vomit. Realizing I could have sat there filled me with envy. Butterflies filled my stomach and my heart was beating so fast it felt like my chest was going to explode. I looked down at my seatbelt and it didn’t seem very durable, but at least there was a rusty barred door on the side to keep me from falling out of the capsule. I clicked my seatbelt closed and pulled the belt as tight as I could and I held the handle bars so tight my hand started to pulsate and turn
After what seemed like an eternity of rigorous tests and dealing with the painful longing of wanting to hold a precious baby of my own in my arms, it happened; my dreams at long last came true. I was pregnant! But something happened; I felt my world come crashing down. The thought of bringing another life into this world terrified me.
I was the first person to ski off of the chairlift that day; arriving at the summit of the Blackcomb Mountain, nestled in the heart of Whistler, Canada. It was the type of day when the clouds seemed to blanket the sky, leaving no clue that the sun, with its powerful light, even existed anymore. It was not snowing, but judging by the moist, musty, stale scent in the air, I realized it would be only a short time before the white flakes overtook the mountain. As I prepared myself to make the first run, I took a moment to appreciate my surroundings. Somehow things seemed much different up here. The wind, nonexistent at the bottom, began to gust. Its cold bite found my nose and froze my toes. Its quick and sudden swirling movement kicked loose snow into my face, forcing me to zip my jacket over my chin. It is strange how the gray clouds, which seemed so far above me at the bottom, really did not appear that high anymore. As I gazed out over the landscape, the city below seemed unrecognizable. The enormous buildings which I had driven past earlier looked like dollhouses a child migh...
Bees It was a slow, humid day in the middle of August, and I was walking to the convenient store with my classmate Jeff. We were nearing the store when suddenly Jeff turned around and bolted away. As confused as I was I chased after him. When he finally came to a stop I asked him why he ran off like that. He told me a loud buzzing was in his ear, he knew it was a bee and ran away to prevent being stung.
One of the most nerve-wrecking things I had to do alone, was going on an airplane. It wasn’t the first time I had gone on an airplane, but it had been a long time since I had been on one. I was 12 at the time and I was going to visit my auntie in Austin, Texas. The only way I could go visit her for summer vacation, was by going on a plane all by myself. I remember I was wearing a white shirt with neon pink flowers, my favorite shirt, when I was on my way to the airport. It was just my auntie, my mom, and I that were in the car. Once we got there, we all said our goodbyes and I started off on my airplane journey, all on my own.
As the dark stadium filled with fire, with the sounds of guns and bombs exploding everywhere, the crazed fans yelled at the top of their lungs. The enormous stage was rumbling with the sound of a single guitar as the band slowly started their next encore performance. Soon after I realized that I was actually at the Sanitarium concert listening to Metallica play "One", I thought to my self, "Is this real, am I actually here right now?" I had a weird feeling the entire time because I had worked all summer to simply listen to music with a bunch of strangers.
