“You wanna come up and play a few video games?” Nick asked. Caleb leaned forward to look at the apartment building. “Is he in there?” Nick shrugged. “Probably. But Aeron might be here, too. You don’t have to see him.” Caleb shook his head and sat back. “Sorry, Nick. I can’t do it.” Nick sighed, unbuckling and opening his door. “You’re going to have to speak to him at some point.” Caleb looked over at him. “It’s cute when you try.” Nick pressed his lips together. Help.” He wasn’t used to hearing his name in Stone’s voice with that tone. He glanced over his shoulder, unsure if he felt bad or wanted to punch Stone in his hideous face for the audacity to ask for help from Nick after everything he’d ever done. He watched another full flash between wolf and human before he knelt down behind Stone, uncomfortable with his rival’s state in human form. “What the hell, Blakemore?” Nick asked through gritted teeth. “Help me,” Nick looked left and right, seeing only a dumpster in the dark alleyway. The Were-Hunters only did this when they were electrocuted. Who had electrocuted Stone, and how had they done it? More importantly, where were they? Did they run when they saw Nick coming or were they lurking somewhere nearby, cloaked in shadows. Nick didn’t have a way to stop the rapid transformations, so he waited them out, searching for Stone’s clothes in the process. He found them, one by one.
