It all started when I was in eighth grade. My decision was Cardinal Hayes. Cardinal Hayes was the school my brother was attending and my brother had told me so much interesting things about Cardinal Hayes. My brother told me about their trophy room and how successful the school was. He also told me how much fun they had there. My friend was telling me about Fordham Prep, but I had payed him no mind. If my friend wasn’t there I would not currently be in Fordham Prep. After I stopped being stubborn and started to listening to my friend about my friend about Fordham Prep I noticed that it wasn’t bad, but actually good. Joining Fordham Prep was the best decision I ever made all thanks to my friend. The school had lots to offer, and what had attracted
“Coastal Carolina is too far away for you to come home when you have the chance.” Kaylee (my Girlfriend at the time) said to me in my first car as we talked about college choices. I told her about my acceptance to Coastal Carolina University I received from Mrs. Emmons (personal guidance counselor in high school) during a school day, early February. Kaylee’s words made me start a to question myself; “What other colleges can I choose?”. I came home and sat down with my parents in the living room with my Coastal Carolina acceptance letter in my hand and they were proud of me. I asked my parents the same question I asked myself earlier that day “What other colleges can I choose from?”. When
St. Mary is a better fit for me socially. At my old school many of my fellow classmates did not treat people with respect. Not many students seemed to truly care about the well being of their peers. Whereas at St. Mary, it feels like more of a community. We all look out for each other and try to help out one another. At St. Mary we have the Peacekeeper awards.These awards are given to one student from each homeroom every month. The award is
I have applied to Saint Ignatius College Prep because I think that it is the right school for me. Saint Ignatius is a place where I feel that I can be pushed to my limits to learn as much as I can as well as meet lots of new people. I love the esthetic of the school and how kind everyone is to each other. I believe that Saint Ignatius is the place for me because everyone is open to new ideas and others' opinions. Saint Ignatius is a place where I can excel in both learning and extra-curricular related activities. Over the summer, I took a classical mythology class at Saint Ignatius and I learned so much from Dr. Wood (the teacher). Throughout my time at Saint Ignatius over the summer, I learned so much about the school and discovered many more
An important decision needs to be considered thoroughly before making a choice. In life, everyone will face many decisions to make. Some decision will affect your entire life. Some for better but others for the worst. I will never forget the decision I made to go through sorority recruitment. Sorority recruitment has changed my life bringing me new opportunities and friendships that changed me into the person I am today.
This past week, I had the honor of being invited by one of my seminary scholarship donors. This donor was a woman, probably in her eighties, who said that should I visit her at her place, a retirement lodging, in Lake Forest. I was given a ride to the place by the Director of Stewardship who works at my seminary, called Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. To my surprise, not only this senior woman was a professional artist, her art was exhibited at the same retirement place where she lived at. She took the time to narrate each story about her paintings, with specific mention of month, year and the event related to the paintings. One of her paintings showed her father hiking up a mountain. This painting was entitled “Guide Me Up High Rock
At that time difficult decision to make and I was too very to decide. They are both great and respected schools. But most of my friends were going to Northeastern. As much as I wanted to go where my friends did, I didn’t. After comparing many facts like, the price of education, and the travel distance, I chose UMass Amherst. Even though I still feel bad for not being close to my friends, I have the benefit to get the same education at a much cheaper school. And I also feel that my decision was right because it is much closer to my home and I can go home whenever I want.
I have always been intrigued by Rutgers University and all that it has to offer. After graduating highschool, I was unimpressed with my GPA and the work ethics I developed. At that moment, I decided that my next steps towards earning my degree would be to give it my all and put as much effort as possible towards education. After going to Brookdale, I wanted to challenge myself; attending Rutgers University is without a doubt the best way to do so. Rutgers University is unlike any other school. Not only is
I chose West Virginia University to go to college because I utterly love that school. My cousin, Nicole, attended WVU and received her chemist degree there. I do not only want to go to WVU because she went there, but because it’s close to home. I want to go to a college where I do not have to drive five or six hours to go home and see my family. Family is yet another motive why I want to go to WVU. My family is one of the biggest football and basketball fans ever. Every time there is a Mountaineer football or basketball game on television, you bet my family is watching it, even if they are losing.
As I sat this morning reading this article, I thought of the many times, I, Personally have battled this "abyss". I know what it's like because I have been there. I don't and I may not fully understand or comprehend to understand what you have gone through in your life Halie, yet, I really want you to know that I am here for you, and that I love you no matter what. There is a personal story that I share and have shared many times in my course of missionary service. It's a story about a man. It goes something like this;
“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something.”(Barack Obama). Beginning in the ninth grade, my mother decided that it was time for me to start giving back to the community that has raised me, and despite my initial reluctance, I have enjoyed and prospered through every minute of it. In the past nine weeks, I have served the Catholic Church of Preston County the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department. Through these experiences, I have served Saint Sebastian’s Catholic Church and helped others connect with their faith, brought light into people’s morning with good conversation and compassion, and helped the KVFD raise the much needed funds required to save lives.
I originally applied and finished my first semester at Suffolk College because I found the school comfortable and pleasant especially to someone like me who came all the way from Saudi Arabia. To study in an environment with friendly faces is where I wanted to be when I decided to apply there.
The next few days at school, I started to really understand the schedule and got the hang of migrating between Lasalle and DePaul. I made new friends everyday, did not struggle with my locker once, had lunches that tasted, smelled, and looked amazing, and I am really glad I chose to come to Sacred Heart Cathedral. Everyone is really welcoming and nice. I have made great friends and I am really excited for the next four years at Sacred Heart
The first time I heard about Bishop Carroll was early September. I heard that it is not like the other schools where students learn in a class, people told me that the student gets to learn by themselves. I remember thinking to myself “what kind of school allows students to learn by themselves? Wouldn’t that be difficult?”. Now that I’ve talked to my counselor and been to the open house, I am more informed and educated about what Bishop Carroll is really about. It’s about learning how to become independent and being in the driver's seat of my own learning, but of course with the help of a teacher. I think that Bishop Carroll is for me because I am the independent type of learner. I like working in pairs but I feel like I work better individually because I can focus more on the topic given to me.
As the end of my senior year in high school approached, I had to make an important decision. What school was I going to spend the next few years of my life at? When the financial aid packages arrived, I was torn between two colleges. After sitting down with my mother and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of both schools, I came to my final decision. It seemed like a year ago I was imagining what college life would be like and suddenly before my eyes, I would be a college student in a matter of four months.
Up to this point all the major decisions in my life were made by my parents. To make this decision on my own for my future and where I want to spend the next four years of my life proves that I am moving on from being a carefree child to becoming a responsible adult. “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.” by Theodore Roosevelt. I am not sure at this point if the decision I made is going to be the right one for me but I believe that my future at Hutchinson is the best for me at this
