And They Called Her Blessed Being a mother of six children has been my focal point from the moment I was expecting my first child. Growing up I had dreams and goals of what my life would look like. Having those random conversations with friends about what I will be when I grow up, when I will marry and how many children I will have. Well, as we all learn very quickly, life happens and although you never lose your dreams and goals, you will find there are other factors that rearrange your choice of priorities. I was married much earlier than I had planned and children came much earlier than I planned. Although I attempted to take classes here and there, my children were my priority. It was then my goals were rearranged. I decided to stay home with my three girls and return to school once they were school age. I saw myself taking classes while they were in school during the day allowing me to be available as mom before and after school. This worked for awhile until our daily expenses for five was difficult to manage on my husband’s salary. I finished the classes I was taking and opened up my first home daycare in Bremerhaven Germany. This allowed me to stay home with the girls, help other military families and earn income. In my mind, I would return to school when the girls began kindergarten. My oldest child began kindergarten at our next duty station in Louisiana. The twins were next in 2 years and I began planning to return back to school. Several months passed and it was time for a physical. A few days later I received a call that I was expecting our fourth child, who our first son. This pregnancy was very different from the girls. My body responding differently and according to tests there were complications with my son. At this point all energy and thoughts went into having a
