Errors with medications have been found to be the most common cause of adverse drug effects (Brady, Malone, Fleming, 2009). Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago conducted a research in 2012 that approximately forty percent of the hospitalized clients have encountered a medication error (Lahue et al., 2012). A nurse’s role is to identify and report these medication errors immediately in order to stop or minimize any possible harm to the patients. So, unquestionably, choosing a major is one of the most important decisions you will make. ”A good choice in a major could lead to higher grades because you will have more potential to finish your major, it will help you be more motivated, you could finish college in four years, and you will be more fulfilled and well off in your future career (Jones 3). With my own experience so far in college, this depiction of having more motivation which leads to doing better in your classes when you choose a major that you are interested in is accurate. I have loved the sciences ever since high school. All of the classes were just so interesting and I enjoyed learning about science, even if it was hard. When I got into my junior year of high school, I took a chemistry class, did very well in it, and loved it. Ever since then, I have had a passion to study chemistry, which lead me to choose a biochemistry major. Because I love learning about chemistry and biology, I am more motivated to study, which leads me to do better in my science classes. Since I chose a major that I am interested in learning about, I will do better. The delivery of healthcare mandates a lot of difficult decision making for healthcare providers as well as patients. For patients, much of the responsibility is left to them especially when serious health problems occur. This responsibility deals with what treatments could be accepted, what treatments could be continued, and what treatments could be stopped. Overall, it considers what route should be taken in regards to the health interests of the patient. However, there are circumstances in which patients cannot decide for themselves or communicate what they want in terms of their healthcare. This is where the ethical issue concerning who should be responsible for making these important healthcare decisions occur if a patient was to be in this sort of situation. Healthcare providers can play a role in the healthcare decision making as their duty is to act in the best interest of the patient.
In the medical ethics case study given to me, Justin is new nurse at a hospital and has become great help to the other employees but he makes mistakes often. When it comes to medical ethics, it is important to do what you know is morally correct. We all want to be good Christians and make the right decisions but sometimes those decisions will affect others negatively. Most students either enjoy math and science or English and history. After eleven years of school, I came to the conclusion that I love math and science. My sophomore year of high school, I took biology and chemistry and I loved it. Ever since I was eight years old, I always wanted to become a veterinarian. While talking to my friends about what we want to do in the future in the past couple of years, I realized that I did want to work with animals, but did I really want to do surgery on the furry little creatures? I decided to look up different veterinary career options. I came across veterinary anatomic pathology and I always loved working in labs. That is how I found out exactly what I wanted to be.
