“Hello! What’s the reason for your visit today?” says Dr. Pauline Hunter as she begins to examine her furry patient. As a second semester freshman at Talladega College, Pauline has plans for her future, and being a veterinarian is her main goal. In order to reach her main goal, she must reach her smaller life goals to ensure that she has everything that she needs in order to be a veterinarian. Pauline’s life goals include graduating Talladega College, joining the Air Force, and going to veterinary school. Before she can even attempt to be a veterinarian, Pauline must first obtain her Bachelor’s Degree from Talladega College. Not only is she planning on graduating from the college, but she is determined to cross the stage with honors. When Ms. Hunter was younger, she saw how her mother struggled to take care of five kids on her own. Her mom used to always tell her “Be better than me. I didn’t have the chance to go to college, but I wish I did.” These two sentences have stuck with Pauline, and she plans to make her mom proud. Besides …show more content…

Hunter has made arrangements to join the United States Air Force. The summer after her graduation, Pauline is going to basic training and then to technical school. While in technical school, she will be earning credits toward her next degree while progressing in expertise and rank. Many ask her why she wants to wait so long to enlist in the Air Force and why didn’t she get going to basic and technical school before she started college, but she has a plan. If she waits to join the U.S. Air Force after she earns her Bachelor’s Degree, she’ll enter the Air Force with rank, meaning she’ll get paid more money. Also, the Air Force will pay for her to go to vet school, so she won’t have to worry about paying back loans. If joining the Air Force ensures a job safety after college and is going to help her reach her major goal, Pauline is going to do exactly
