Many people live in England, but recently, the population has been increasing. This increase in population has its consequences. According to Document 1D4, due to the large population, “…they can hardly live by one another…” It is tough not having enough space to live in. Their living space is very limited; this creates many difficulties and troubles for the English people. It becomes difficult to live comfortably. Although England may not have enough living space for their people, America has the solution for England’s dilemma. For example, in Document 1D4, “…many decayed towns may be repaired.” As a result of colonizing America, there are many buildings that can house the people of England. However, America is seen as an opportunity to finally earn someprofit. InDocument 1D4, “…their country being cold and sharp in the winter…we shall find great [demand for] our clothes…” Due to the cold weather in America, the English people are able to create profit by manufacturing clothing that can withstand the harsh winters. Life wasn't always easy for the people of England. There were many restrictions and limitations in their lives. According to Document 3A1, it states, “…they had been victims of intolerance in old England…” The government had lack willingness to tolerate the people’s freedom. The English had faced many hardships due to the lack of freedom given. It became difficult to live life adequately and luxuriously with large amounts of restraint on their daily lives. In America, things are different. In Document 3A1, the sourcebook talks about, “A more hospitable atmosphere in the Quaker colonies, notably William Penn’s Pennsylvania…” In order to escape the miseries of the old world, many people escape to the new world, a place where theyare able to obtain many things they couldn’t get in the old word; such as freedom.
