Unsung Heroes of History Everyone has the chance to become a hero and many hope to be, but actually being one doesn't always come with the fame or recognition. Oskar Schindler, Chris Kyle, Manoj Bhargava, and Stephen Stevens are unsung heroes. They are prime examples of integrity, strength, and unselfishness. They are always very humble and never give a second thought into helping others before themselves. They display what it truly means to be a hero and assist those who are less fortunate than they are in a huge way. They displayed multiple acts of heroism on a day to day basis and had an expectation of nothing in return. Schindler was known for rescuing many jews during the holocaust as a Nazi spy. Schindler spent millions bribing and paying off Nazi soldiers also risking his own life (Bulow). Schindler helped over 1,200 jews escape the gas chambers, more than any single person during World War II. Schindler helped these jews by employing them in his factories (Pallardy). He helped many jews survive with his thoughtfulness and caring. Although he wasn’t the perfect hero being an alcoholic and a womaniser he did help many innocent jews live to see another day. Oskar Schindler will forever be known as a hero to the ancestors of the many jews he helped rescue. Oskar Schindler displayed acts of a true unsung hero. His acts inspired the novel Schindler’s Ark (Keneally). The novel was eventually adapted into a movie named Schindler’s List. Kyle is known as the most lethal sniper in U.S. Military History. He has over 160 confirmed kills and served four tours in Iraq. He helped protect countless troops lives and protected his country proudly. When he was honorably discharged from service in 2009 he wrote his best selling novel American Sniper (Kyle). In the novel he recounts numerous times where he helped defends his troops from enemies and his experiences as a military sniper. When he returned back to the U.S. he helped fellow military members repatriate after their service (Chris). He helped these military members who were mentally incapable of rejoining society. While helping one of these fellow military members suffering from PTSD in 2013, he was tragically killed. Prior to his death, the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation was founded by Kyle himself. The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation is devoted to providing meaningful, interactive experiences to service members, first responders, and their families (Foundation). They aim to enrich their family relationships. Chris Kyle was a hero not only to those he served with, but those he protected here in the U.S. His Autobiography was an inspiration to all, as much as he was.
