For years orthodontists have been inserting wires in patient’s month to help them have straighter teeth. It seems that now days a teenager cannot completely finish puberty without having braces. As generations past newer and better technology comes along that helps orthodontists learn more efficient ways for a patient to have braces.
An article titled “Straight Talk on Braces” by Linda Bren revels more information on ‘braces used today. “‘Heavy metal bands’ may conjure up images of rock music today, but many baby boomers remember them as the clunky and conspicuous devices they wore in their months as children to straighten their teeth” (20). With the enhancement of knowledge and technology orthodontists have, braces are more comfortable for people. Currently, orthodontists start children out at younger ages to help avoid braces for their teenage years. There are many different tools that can help with the straightening of teeth for young patients that may not need braces. With newer technology orthodontists have a more improved wire for the mouth. Most orthodontists wait for a patient to have all permanent teeth before they insert braces on him or her. As technology and knowledge grows in this field, newer orthodontists are finding out that it might be better to start braces at a younger age. This way an orthodontist can start treatment on a patient and help prevent overbites in teeth as the patient
