Fly Away Home Not everybody has enough money for homes or food. Sometimes those people have to live in places they never planned to live in. In the short story Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting, Andrew shows us that optimism helps us make a bad situation better by always looking at the bright side. I think this because, Andrew looks on the bright side when he has to walk a long way, when a bird gets stuck inside the terminal, and when he buys breakfast. This shows that optimism helps us make a bad situation better by thinking on the bright side. The first reason why optimism helps us make a bad situation better by looking on the bright side is, when Andrew and his dad had to walk to another terminal, Andrew said, "That’s okay, we like to walk." …show more content…

When most people might say that the bird is useless and it has no chance. Therefore, Andrew reacted optimistically to when the bird got stuck inside the terminal. My final reason to show that optimism helps us make a bad situation better by looking on the bright side is, when Andrew and his dad get breakfast, they buy donuts and milk. Andrew get a carton of juice sometimes. This is optimism because Andrew isn't complaining that he doesn’t get a carton of juice every day. He is still thankful that he gets breakfast. Therefore, Andrew is optimistic about his breakfast. In the story Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting, Andrew shows us that optimism helps make bad situations better by looking on the bright side. First of all, Andrew has to walk to another terminal but he says he like to walk. Also, when the bird gets stuck in the terminal, Andrew tells the bird to not give up. Finally, when Andrew gets breakfast, he doesn't complain that he doesn't always get juice.
