I was born in china and the only child at home because of the one child policy. I felt lonely some times because my parents weren’t at home all the time. They are busy because of their works. I have to stay at home by myself sometimes, and I am bored by it. Therefore I always want a brother or sister, so we can fun together. Growing up in such policy, I was greatly affected, and this is why I would like to dig more about it. These policies can encourage and attract women to have more children. One of my friends who come from USA told me that a normally family would have an average of 2-3 children. She think is feels lucky to have brothers and sisters, so that she doesn’t feel lonely. By contrast, she thinks the one child policy is too strict. Human should have the right of choosing how many children they want. By contrast with opinions from other countries, local Chinese also have disagreements over the successful or failure of the one child policy. People who believe the one child policy should not continue to implement indicate several unintended consequences caused by the policy. For example: “little emperor syndrome” may occur. Because the children are the only children at home, their parents are only children as well, so they have no first cousins. Child becomes the focus of all the attention from two parents and four grandparents, which may leave them rather spoiled. They are usually boys because they are more emotional than girls. When their children want something, the parents will always satisfy them. Parents are not willing to let their kid to do the works anymore. This led many Chinese kids very lazy and lack of promotions to progress. This have some impacts on Chinese society because there will be less and less elite in China.
