OUR CHOICE: We chose an old time boat modeled after one from 300-400 years ago. For a boat to stay afloat and sail, it requires various parts. This is similar to how for the Constitution to run the United States, it requires multiple parts and sections. PREAMBLE The Sail The ship needs a sail to move. The Constitution needs a set of goals and objectives for itself to fulfill. The Constitution can not ‘move forward’ without the target set by the Preamble. THE SEVEN PRINCIPLES The Mast The mast supports a ship’s sail. The Preamble is worth absolutely nothing without the actual objectives of it. The sails on a ship won't function without something to hold them up. THE SEVEN ARTICLES The Crew The ship cannot function without a crew to maintain
The framers had four major goals for the constitution. They wanted to create a strong government that would be able to meet the need's of the nation. Yet they wanted to keep the existence of the separate states. They also didn't want to threaten liberty. And lastly they wanted to create a government that everyone could agree upon.
The Constitution of the United States is one of the most iconic and important documents of all time. However, when it was first generated, its writing and ratification caused some major concerns. The purpose of the Constitution was to address the great number of issues of a new nation. To be more specific, the Constitution was meant to resolve the political, economic, and social problems of the country. Nevertheless, the document spurred much discussion and concern over people’s rights, the economy, and political corruption.
The United States' Constitution is one the most heralded documents in our nation's history. It is also the most copied Constitution in the world. Many nations have taken the ideals and values from our Constitution and instilled them in their own. It is amazing to think that after 200 years, it still holds relevance to our nation's politics and procedures. However, regardless of how important this document is to our government, the operation remains time consuming and ineffective. The U.S. Constitution established an inefficient system that encourages careful deliberation between government factions representing different and sometimes competing interests.
The preamble of the United States Constitution was almost an afterthought. It was not proposed or discussed on the floor of the Constitutional Convention. A delegate from Pennsylvania, Governor Morris, who drafted the final text of the Constitution, thought it up and drafted it at the last moment. The preamble helped to summarize the purpose of the Constitution. The Preamble did not, in itself, have any solid legal meaning or purpose. Preambles were not legal precedent or to be read as giving or limiting power. The preamble helped the Framers of the Constitution set the tone for the Constitution. Our Founding Fathers knew our government was not perfect, but we had a goal. We knew we could show the world the values and thoughts that are conveyed in the Constitution.
Thomas Jefferson once said "It is every Americans ' right and obligation to read and interpret the Constitution for himself."[1] In honor of that sentiment, the following are a few thoughts on the preamble Constitution of the United States.
In 1787, The United States of America formally replaced the Articles of Confederation with a wholly new governing document, written by the delegates who attended the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. This document, known as the Constitution, has served as the supreme law of our land for the past 228 years. It has stood the test of time and a majority of Americans still support it today (Dougherty). The Constitution was designed in a way that allows for it to be amended, in order to address changing societal needs. Article V discusses the process by which the Constitution can be altered. This feature has enabled it to stay in effect and keep up with current times. The Constitution should not be rewritten every 19 years because it would not only weaken its importance, but it would also hurt foreign relations and continuously rewriting it would give political parties too much power.
“The Boat”, narrated by a Mid-western university professor, Alistar MacLeod, is a short story concerning a family and their different perspectives on freedom vs. tradition. The mother pushes the son to embrace more of a traditional lifestyle by taking over the fathers fishing business, while on the other hand the father pushes the son to live more autonomously in an unconstrained manner. “The Boat” focuses on the father and how his personality influences the son’s choice on how to live and how to make decisions that will ultimately affect his life. In Alistair MacLeod’s, “The Boat”, MacLeod suggest that although dreams and desires give people purpose, the nobility of accepting a life of discontentment out weighs the selfishness of following ones own true desires. In the story, the father is obligated to provide for his family as well as to continue the fishing tradition that was inherited from his own father. The mother emphasizes the boat and it’s significance when she consistently asked the father “ How did things go in the boat today” since tradition was paramount to the mother. H...
The Constitution, the document that protects all our rights, is a very important piece of American government history. Many people know it was created a long time ago by the Founding Father, but do not know the effort taken to create it and the smaller important aspects. The article “A More Perfect Union: The Creation of the U.S. Constitution” written by the National Archive gives and overview of the creation of the constitution. Three main points of this history is the Article of Confederation, the Delegates, and the Ratifications. These three points have a huge effect on the end product of Constitution.
Not many know about Dragging Canoe and the battle he fought during the American Revolutionary War. The Native American’s role in the Revolutionary War was very important, but not well known. As a result, the Revolutionary War can come across as one-sided. Dragging Canoe fought for the Native American’s existence in the colonies. First, he was strongly opposed to Henderson’s Purchase or also called the Transylvania Purchase. Secondly, Dragging Canoe’s raid at “Battle of the Bluffs” became an issue for the colonists. And lastly, there was negotiating done between the British and Colonists would somehow effect Dragging Canoe, his warriors, and the future for the Native Americans.
This passage defines the character of the narrators’ father as an intelligent man who wants a better life for his children, as well as establishes the narrators’ mothers’ stubbornness and strong opposition to change as key elements of the plot.
The current size, inherent values, and economic status of the United States owes greatly to the paramount figures and events that took place during the Early National Period of the country. However, while there is no doubt that such events- and the figures behind them- were of great importance and have molded the country into the pristine product that it is today, the various construction projects of that time have gone largely unnoticed. Canals, being one of the most prominent advances in transportation, are prime examples of forgotten catalysts of the American nation. The construction of canals- particularly the Erie Canal- during the 19th century played a key role in the geographic, economic, and cultural development of the country by
