Oil Spill Persuasive Speech

The oil spill has effected so many people and many animals. We will see how the oil spill was caused and how it could be stopped. We will also look into how it affected the animals in the ocean and how they got all the oil off of them. Some more that we will see is what were some of the big oil spill that happened in the world. Because of the oil that affected the fish, we will see how it affected the people who could not eat it and the restraints who need the fish. I will give you what I think could stop the oil spills and what I think are some way that can help the oil spills when they happen.
One of the largest oil spills was the Arabian Gulf/Kuwait. It happened in January 19, 1991 and over 380-520 million gallons of oil was spilt. People are saying that it was not an accident and that they meant to do it (Major Oil Spill). It damaged ecosystems in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, Galapagos Islands, France, and many other places. The oil spill happens on April 20, 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico and it killed about 11 people (Information on oil spill). It was estimated that about 5,000 barrels per day of oil was going into the waters. The drilling rig was owned by BP. It is located about 45 miles from Venice, Louisiana. They say that the oil slick is a “very serious issue” for hotels, tourist, and dining industries in the region because of their heavy use of seafood. The gulf states are the main source of American seafood, supplying 69 percent of shrimp, 70 percent of oysters, and 90 percent of crawfish produced in the country. People are saying that restaurants represent some $77 billion industries in the gulf states and employed more than 2.2 million people. Even the slight drop on business would drastically impact local economies. They say that restaurants were not reporting any slowdown of business in the four weeks that have elapsed since the oil
