Oedipus Rex In Oedipus Rex, Sophocles analyzes the theme with stylistic devices and a poetic device called Stichomythia, which are single lines of a verse that alternate between two characters. He uses devices such as dialogue and stichomythia to display the actions of the character. His language reveals how the Greeks view their society and reflects man’s struggle between rational and irrational. During the play, the characters show some devices as how Greek people speak about the King. Sophocles uses dialogue to explain what Creon said to Oedipus, “Not is they rule ill.” (107).
