A perfect society is every country 's goal, one in which everyone is happy and beautiful, successful where all are equal and “free” to live their lives in perfect harmony. However, what must be sacrificed to gain that type of harmony? The 1964 Twilight Zone episode “Number Twelve Looks Just Like me” highlights a self-absorbed society focus on creating a perfect world void of ugliness and individuality. The hold episode seems to be filled to include all the actors on screen at once making them equal to one another as if no one person is worth a close up. Furthermore, when there are close ups they are mostly pointed at Marilyn while she speaks about her opinion of beauty and life. Those of which contradict those of the world she was brought up in. An additional observation is that Marilyn wears a loose fitting dress while her mother and friend wears a tight leotard that shows off their ideal body type. This fact put forward is that nothing is worth seeing if it does not fit the mold. also constantly showing off their perfect curves will help advertise to younger girls that this is what a real woman looks like. Thus making young, impressionable girls to hate their bodies and look towards the transformation to give them the perfect figure. One of the doctors Marilyn first meets “Dr. Rex” believes that she is visiting them out of excitement to get the operation done as soon as possible because she cannot bear to gaze upon her perfect mother anymore. Another way in which this society advertises to the younger population is they make sure that every inch of perfection can be seen and the way that Val and Lana (Marilyn 's mother) wear their hair away from their faces to show off their flawless features is an example of that propaganda.
