Change can be very difficult in daily life. It can either bring good or bad, but either way it will end up okay. The novel “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton and the poem “Nothing gold can stay” by Robert Frost can show clear examples of themes. The line from the poem, “nature's first green is gold”, can relate to “The Outsiders”. First of all, I believe that the quote means that before something hits reality, it is all that and has a lot of attention. I know this because before a leaf is a leaf, it is a beautiful flower, not just like the others or ordinary. The theme to be learned from this is that you may be “all that” for a while, but eventually, you will just be ordinary. When something spectacular happens to you, the “buzz” won’t last for long. Even, in Ponyboy’s case, if something bad happens the grieving won’t last forever. All in all, greatness will not last
