Tobacco has been increasing in America for nearly 8000 years. Around about 2000 years ago, tobacco started to be chewed and smoked during the cultural or religious ceremonies and events. Cigarettes were developed in the late 1800s, the machines in those days produced about 200 cigarettes per minutes, unlike today where they produce about 9000 cigarettes per minute. The growth of cigarette smoking continued in the early 20th century, however, was extremely popular during the world wars due to the policy of providing free cigarettes to allied troops as a morale-boosting exercise. Later in the 20th-century smoking reduced in popularity due to the knowledge of health risk effects of both active and passive smoking (Council, 2015).
Tobacco is a form of cigarette, cigars and pipes. Tobacco is a plant that contains a drug called nicotine. Nicotine is a nitrogen-containing a chemical and alkaloid made up by several types of plants, one being a tobacco plant. Some things that can help people that are smokers stop smoking includes nicotine replacement therapy, chewing on things, being physical and remind yourself of the benefits of not smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy can be used to try and stop smoking as you replace smoking with a nicotine nasal spray or inhaler, nicotine patches, gum and lozenges. Chewing gum allows people’s mouth to do something different and healthier instead of smoking. By chewing on something that is better than smoking, it allows the person to fight tobacco craving much better and easier as they are making their mouth work with something a lot healthier. Being physical can help distract you from smoking or tobacco craving and reduce the intensity as you are distracting yourself and your mind from smoking and tobacco craving (Clinic,
