New viewpoints are often built on individuals in different situations, resulting in various endings. In the short story “The Stolen Party” written by Liliana Heker, it demonstrates the impact that a new perspective has on certain individuals, developing both a negative and positive view, here shown by the protagonist, Rosaura, through her relationships with family and friends. The girl with the bow, Luciana’s cousin, and Rosaura’s relationship developed negatively as their conversation continued. Rosaura meets the girl with the bow when the girl asks, “And you? Who are you?” where Rosaura responds saying, “I’m a friend of Luciana,”. The girl then responds, “No.”[Citation] which shows an unfriendly conversation so far. At the very beginning of the story, Rosaura really wanted to go to Luciana’s birthday party and prove to her mother that there will be a monkey at the party, “She wouldn’t have liked to admit that her mother had been right. Monkeys at a birthday?”. Her mother, however, does not approve Rosaura going to the party, saying, “I don’t like you going, it’s a rich people’s party.” Anyhow, in the morning, her mother hints that she allows Rosaura to go to the party and help her prepare, as shown in the text, “She discovered that her mother had starched her Christmas dress.” From there, their relationship begins to recover as Rosaura thought that she would be mad at her mom after the party, “It was strange because up to then, Rosaura had thought that she was angry with her mother.” “But instead, she was so thrilled that she told her mother all about the wonderful magician.” Even though there was an argument between Rosaura and her mother, it resulted in her mom allowing her to attend the party, where their relationship changed positively after. The outcome of a new perspective can be negative, but it also slowly develops into a positive
In her short story, "The Birthday Party", Katharine Brush depicts the cruelty that many people in this world so curtly reveal. Through her use of imagery, diction, and point of view she is able to send this message across to her audience.
The book Unwind showcases how the odds can be completely out of a group’s favor at one point in a story, but can ultimately turn into something completely advantageous to that same group. The subject matters of this book are not pretty in the slightest. Rather, they include the likes of abortion, racism, teen rebellion and mental illness. Though this book tackles such dark subjects, by the end of the book one can see the light at the end of the dark tunnel.

Once Rosaura stepped in the symbolic realm of Senora Ines’ kitchen, she was baited by the exotic sight of a monkey and later, trapped with the responsibility to be the cheap child laborer for the day. As a matter of fact “Rosaura was the only one allowed into the kitchen. Senora Ines had said ‘You yes, but not the others [children at the party], they’re much too boisterous, they might break something’” (Heker 2). In her perspective Rosaura feels an immense pride to have exclusive access to the kitchen because now she has the chance to impress Senora Ines, Luciana and all the partygoers of her strength and dexterity. In contrast, Senora Ines is fooling Rosaura into believing that she is a special guest in the party, when in reality, she is taking advantage of Rosaura’s valuable skills. Being a stereotypically ignorant rich woman, Senora Ines has a misconception that all of the working class people, and their children, wish to perform menial tasks. She did not realize that Rosaura was only serving food and beverages out of the
At one point in time, it is inevitable for one to experience character building struggles. How these struggles affect individuals depends not only on themselves, but on those who suffer these burdens alongside them; whether they are literally going through the same situation or they are someone that is confided in. In Markus Zusak’s novel The Book Thief, Liesel Meminger’s struggles against imposed laws and societal expectations effectively reveals the rebellious aspect of human nature. Rather than allowing these struggles to conquer her, Liesel keeps a tight grip on her closest of connections and allows them to fuel her to rebel against and reject what is forced upon her and stand out. She is empowered by her close familial, friendly and brotherly

When Rosaura arrives at the party there are many symbols that indicate what the ending is going to be. When she arrives, her friend Luciana, tells her where the monkey is. She only tells Rosaura because Rosaura is only at the party to serve. Rosaura doesn’t know this though. After, Senora Ines says Rosaura is the only one that can go into the kitchen to give out the refreshments, she says no one else is allowed because they might break something inside the kitchen.
