‘That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’. These are the famous words spoken by Neil Armstrong when he took his first steps on the moon at 10:56 P.m, July 20th, 1969, and officially became the first man to walk on the moon. Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin Jr. soon joined his commander 15 minutes later and became the second man to walk on the moon. Together they documented their journey by taking photos of the landscape, taking samples of rocks and planting the american flag on the hard soil of the moon.

It all starts in 1961, when president John F. Kennedy had a dream, for man to go to the moon, which proved to not be an easy feat. But J.F.K. took that chance and started the Apollo program, a space/NASA program to get astronauts to the moon and back safely. …show more content…

But that all changed with the famous Saturn V on the Apollo 11 mission, commanded by Neil Armstrong, piloted by Edwin Aldrin and operated by Michael Collins. After recording their mission live on the moon, the three astronauts came back and are now famous for being the first Apollo crew to successfully complete the mission to the moon and back.
However, not all Apollo missions were even remotely close to accomplishing their goals. Apollo 1’s rocket blew up et launch. Apollo 2, 18,19 and 20 were all cancelled and only lord knows what happened to Apollo 3 (Seriously, I could not find anything about it (Presentation))
But the most famous Apollo mission (or second most famous after Apollo 11) is Apollo 13 because of what the crew had to endure. After they were well on their way to land on the moon, three of their four oxygen tanks exploded, leaving the crew mostly oxygenless. However they miraculously survived nearly 100 hours without nearly enough oxygen, and ⅔ are still living happily to this
