“AHHHHH!” I cried as the rapid roller coaster took a straight drop and hot summer air rushed into my face. This was the day I rode the eleventh best roller coaster in the world when I was only eight years old! It all began when my brother’s traveling baseball team had a week long tournament in St. Louis, Missouri. Because I’m not a particular fan of baseball, it was tremendously boring having to sit in the beaming sun all day long for a week. Plus, I had to babysit two five year old girls that never stopped bickering and whining. To have some fun with the whole family involved, my parents thought that it would be nice to take everyone to Six Flags! I was so exhilarated that in the car ride there, which felt like hours but was really only …show more content…
As we climbed higher and higher, my stomach churned more and more at the sound of each clicking belt moving us in the direction of the first drop. Just before the peak we had stopped moving and in increments we gradually moved forward over the first hill. I begged fearfully to my dad, “I can’t do this! I can’t do this! Get me off!” “Too late now!” he shouted as we rushed down the steep decline for what seemed like forever. ‘AHHHHHHHHH!” I shrieked as the wind rushed into my face and through my short blonde hair. As the coaster picked up speed, there were sharp twists and turns that made my whole body flail back and forth. It went up and down in large drops that must have been as big as mountains! I could feel my stomach drop at every decline, but finally relief! When the ride was over, I felt like I could do anything and achieve anything even when my dad asked, “Do you wanna do it again?” I said cooly, “Nope, I’m good.” My very first ride on a roller coaster was on the eleventh best roller coaster in the world. Even though this first ride scared me tremendously, it has taught me that life has many ups and downs that can jerk you around; you just have to hold on and enjoy the
It was the summer of 2012 and my family was taking another trip to Six Flags Great America. Earlier that summer we went just for me to be disappointed. At the time I wasn’t 54 inches yet and couldn’t ride any of the rides that I wanted to because they were the most popular at the amusement park. But, I hit a growth spurt between trips and we planned to ride all of the big rollercoasters. The one that I was most terrified of at the time was Raging Bull, one of the tallest, fastest, and longest steel coasters in the US. As we started to wait in line for the ride I was shaking with both anticipation and fear and began to rethink my idea to ride the rollercoaster. I decided to stay in line and see what many people thought was a great coaster.
We sat down, on the ride, and the warm bars hugged around our chest. . I screamed one million times more than the little kids sitting next to me. The day went on and the sweet winds danced through the air. The excitement of Bailey, I, and the other people grew as we approached the bigger rides. After riding everything, the sky was starting to go to sleep. Because my stomach was in a whirl, I had to face my fear. We were standing in line of the Top Thrill Dragster. When I was standing there I was nervous with big eyes and my jaw wide open it could touch the ground.
After eating our sack lunches, our group of five decided to enter the park. I can hear the roller coaster tracks and machinery almost sounding like a train, watching the faces of the people. After...
During the day you may not be able to see the lights flashing as much but come on at night it will be real fun the other lights around the roller coaster will be whiter then when you enter the loop they are rainbow flashing lights. The drop from the loop is definitely no where close to the height of the hill drop. So don’t be scared come on and try it you won’t regret trying it I bet you’ll want to get on over and over again. After the loop you go up another hill which is about the same height as the last hill but you’ll never remember the height because you go down the hill so fast so it will be a real quick drop. After you drop, then you take a really quick turn and then you go up a very small hill and then the for a little you go fast but it’s a flat spot of the ride. Then you take another faster turn and for a couple more feet you are on a very slow spot of roller coaster again and then it’s over and you are still alive and I, bet you enjoyed the roller coaster. On this roller coaster there are 10 keywords that were involved in the ride. First there is, Acceleration which means the rate of change in the

I’ll tell you about this speech by first, telling you about the history of roller coasters. Second, I’ll tell you about some
I lost my shoes that night to cause they fell off in the lake so my mom had to make me some it was pretty funny. I wouldn't say it was the best experience, but it sure wasn't the worst. Now for the funny part, Some of my worst experiences. i was about eleven so not that long ago we were down in the racetrack area we had found and we hadn't been there for a while and noticed there was a hill of rocks about four feet high so we decided to ride up them because it was flat on the top. I was scared like normal, so my grandpa said “ why don't you go ahead and do the throttle?” I was okay with that so I got ready my grandpa was behind me ready to steer and right when I pushed the throttle I pushed just a little too much and we tipped the four wheeler on top of us, we were crushed between the rocks and the four wheeler for about ten minutes and now when I run I think that's why my knee messes up all the time cause I got a rock stuck in it. Another experience is I was riding my sister around I was ten, she was five I had her up front so she would be safe and we pulled into the driveway because i needed a drink. We stopped and my mom got us a drink, I was turned around talking to my grandpa on the four wheeler no one was paying attention to my sister and while we were talking she pressed the throttle and we crashed into the
I knew taking this shortcut was a mistake, yet I didn't think I had enough strength to keep climbing this monumental cliff with the others. The humidity was affecting my vision and the ground now started to spin. The muscles in my legs felt
Japan’s worst amusement park disaster was the Fujin Raijin II roller coaster. Cars were derailed and went flying off the tracks. A nineteen year old student was killed and nineteen others were injured. A broken axle caused the derailment. None of the rides axles had been replaced for fifteen years. The Haunted Castle at Six Flags Great America burst into flames. The wind whipped flames to over 2,000 degrees turning the interior into a raging inferno. Most of the people inside the castle escaped safely, but eight teenagers became trapped and died in the blaze. This accident holds the record for the worst number of deaths ever recorded for a roller coaster
It’s clear that roller coasters, while safe, still create fear, and still provoke a ‘fight or flight’ response. This is all in the riders head and is a mixture of both the engineering and psychology of a roller coaster. Roller coasters create thrills through an illusion and the psychology of fear. The sensation of danger and great speed on a modern roller coaster is mainly an illusion. Accidents are rare because of all of the safety devices that have been put in place and continue to be invented. Designers of roller coasters manipulate our deepest fears and play psychological games creating scary rides.
What most people expect to hear is me looking forward to riding the roller coasters. I hope that’s not what you thought because I hate them, maybe not hate, but really I’m just not a big fan of high altitudes in general. Consequently, this is why I was always reluctant to going with my family on this trip. Nevertheless I always went. Now that you know I’m not a fan of heights you could guess what attractions I was accustomed to riding, let’s just say my height requirement was more than enough to be eligible to ride. This specific year I decided to bring a friend to accompany me and in hindsight that was a bad idea because he was a roller coaster
S.H.I.E.L.D's Character Coaster It was my first day at Six Flags California. We were coming here for an end of the year school field trip. My best friend, Jackson, and I spent most of the day wondering around the park, playing games and riding smaller rides. You see, I had only been on a roller coaster once, and after that I vowed to never go on one again. The force at which the ride pushed on against my body caused me to accelerate at such a rate where I almost threw up.
That’s how I felt like. One 90 degree day I went to Six Flags in San Antonio, Texas. The first ride that I and my dad went on was the boomerang! That was my very first time riding a rollercoaster. We got in the line which look like
Your friends have to practically convince you to change your mind in matter 30 seconds. At this point you can hear your own heart beating in your ears. Everyone seems to vanish and the only thing that you can see is the seat of the roller coaster that has sweat on it due to the previous rider whose nerves got the best of him. There is no turning back now and you have no choice but to get on the ride. Sitting on the ride, waiting for the ride to begin is the most heart wrenching part. You cannot prepare yourself to be flown 50 miles per hour. When you take off, it feels as though your breath is being pulled from your body. For a slip second, you feel like you can’t catch your breath, and you can see the people in front of you desperately trying to gasp for
When I heard my parents talking about going to Disney World I was so excited. It was a long trip down to Florida and I could not sit still, because I was so excited. We finally arrived that evening and decided to stay in a hotel near the theme park. When it was time for bed I could not go to sleep for a long time, because I was so excited about going at Disney world. When I saw the big mirror ball from the entrance, I was amazed. Disney world had a wide variety of rides. There were tons of rides that shocked me. Some of these rides made you feel like you were riding in a jet because of how fast they were. There was even a roller coaster ride in the huge mirror ball. It was a slow ride, but I still liked it because there was air conditioning inside the ball. We spent all day at the park until we had ridden everything. That night Disney World had a firework show. The fireworks seemed like they lasted forever with the amazing colors bursting in the air one right after another. When the firework show finally ended my parents told me that it was time to leave. I was...
The first ride on one of these fantastic beasts gave me an instant rush of adrenaline. As the death-defying ride started, a lump in my throat pulsed like a dislodged heart ready to walk the plank. As the ride gained speed, the resistance to gravity built up against my body until I was unable to move. An almost imperceptible pause as the wheel reached the top of its climb allowed my body to relax in a brief state of normalcy. Then there was an assault of stomach-turning weightlessness as the machine continued its rotation and I descended back toward the earth. A cymbal-like crash vibrated through the air as the wheel reached bottom, and much to my surprise I began to rise again.
