Best practice routines used for: a. changing babies’ nappy - • There should be a designated place to change nappies • The nappy change table must have a surface that will be easily cleaned after each nappy change • There should be a sink nearby for babies or carers to wash their hands after nappy change • Nappy change and toileting supplies must be easily accessible to carers • Nappy change items such as nappy pins, creams, cleaners, plastic bags should be kept away from babies in a high shelve or a cupboard that is child proof • To prevent any risk injuries on the babies, cares should keep a hand on them when they are on the nappy changing table • Carers may also use a set of portable steps to allow older babies to climb on to the nappy …show more content…

Feeding babies– Babies of 0-6 months have particular need for nutrition and feeding based on their stage of development. There are several aspects of feeding which are: • Carers may have to respond to the baby’s cues of expressing hunger instead of feeding according to a fixed schedule. • Carers should hold infants while feeding a baby. By holding a baby, carers are able to make eye contact and watch carefully for signs that a baby is full. • Some babies would be having breast milk that would be provided by their parents in a bottle and some babies would be having the formula. Carers should note the type of food that their babies are having. • The amount and frequency of feeding are to be discussed with the parents to ensure that the baby has enough nutrients given throughout the day Babies 6-24 months will be mostly on solids by this age and as they grow and develop, their needs changes regarding: • Feeding Techniques for an older infant of 6-12 months may still be using the responsive feeding technique. For babies of 12-24 months, they may have a short attention span and can be pickier with their food and thus it is important to have patience with them and be flexible during mealtimes.
