The number of risks in life is countless. Although some risks are avoidable, the majority of risks are ones that everyone encounters. It is hard for people to avoid things in life like driving a car or flying on a plane. The reason people are not afraid of risks like these right now, is due to the current safety and precautions these types of risks have currently. Things like the current research and technology make it safer for people to take everyday risks. When it comes to professional sports and the risks of brain injury, organizations like the NFL have tried its best to minimize injuries like concussions, which lead to long-term brain injuries. Although the NFL has implemented many rule changes over the past ten years, it is hard to say that is all that can be done. There have been a few notable rules the NFL has changed over the past years. The main one most related to head injuries, has to be the penalties, fines, and suspensions to players making helmet-to-helmet hits. In the NFL, the evolution of the main equipment like helmets and pads is incredible. Through research and testing by professionals, the amount of progress made from 60 years ago to improve equipment to stop injuries is substantial. Although the NFL puts in millions of dollars into the research for better equipment for head injuries, is it enough? My solution is to fund even more budget into hiring more professionals and more research. If the NFL actually cares about this issue as much as they tell the media they are, then they would not mind splurging more millions into this category.
