A social institution is a complex group of interdependent positions that, together, perform a social role and reproduce themselves over time. It is also defined as any institution in a society that works to shape the behavior of the groups or people within it. (Book page 20). Because of the education system, I made all of the friends I currently have. I also developed a love for learning. I want to get smarter, I want to learn new things, I want to inspire others to learn. When others see how hard someone works, and sees the pay off from the work, they too want to succeed. The education system taught me to communicate with others effectively. If I didn’t like something that was happening, or I was in an uncomfortable situation, I learned it’s okay to speak out and say “I don’t like that,” or “Please stop.” I gained a sense of time management as well as responsibility. I knew if I didn’t do my homework, I would be the one in trouble or suffering. I also learned if I messed up, I needed to be honest and own up to what I did. The education system is great for building character traits in students as well as essential life
