Imagine having an incurable disease and living each and every day in pain. In the story, My Sister’s Keeper, Kate had cancer and she was tired of fighting the disease. People should have the choice to end their life when they are confronted with a terminal illness. Prolonging the life of a person with a terminal illness can cause a financial burden on that person and their family. People should have the right to die, however the government does not allow that in most states.

People should have the choice to end their life when they have a terminal disease. A person with a terminal disease knows what the best decision for themselves is. They are not living a good life when they are bedridden or in constant pain. Their families are forced to watch them suffer. USA News did an interview with Gary Holder-Winfield whose mother was suffering with diabetes and cancer. He stated “I watched my mother actually at some points beg for death, before she passed in 2012”. (Gary Holder-Winfield) The same was true of the character Kate, in My Sister's Keeper. Kate was ready to die. She was tired of fighting. She knew her disease was destroying her family while it was killing her.
