For my hero´s journey, I chose to create a superhero called Violet. I chose the name Violet because the powers that Violet possess is a unique violet color. Violet is different from others people because she has magic powers that are like magicians. Her powers include optical illusions, levitation, and the power to make things disappear. Violet wears a blue cloak and uses a magic wand, to resemble an ordinary stage magician among the humans. She also wears purple striped pants and long brown boots. She must save the world from a powerful wizard named Alanzam, that wants to take over the universe and erase the human race. Along her journey, she meets another magic superhero named Jasper. What if all of a sudden your life changed and the next thing you know you find out you have magic in you. What would you do? who would you trust? This is what happens to a fourteen year old boy named Zachary Harriman in Hero by Mike lupica. Hero by Mike lupica is full of twists and turns and is a really good book. It all starts when Zach’s dad dies in a mysterious plane crash. Zach begins to investigate about his dad’s mysterious death because even though the police have concluded it was an accident he thinks otherwise. Throughout this book Zach learns a lot and overcomes and fails some challenges but is stronger in the end. Hero by Mike lupica is a really great book because of three things
She is fairly new to the work world and has lied on her resume’ to get hired, and realizes that the job is harder than she first thought. All hope is not lost because Violet assures her that she can be trained. She ends up succeeding at the company and telling her husband she will not take him back after he comes back begging for her love again.
Watching a film, one can easily recognize plot, theme, characterization, etc., but not many realize what basic principle lies behind nearly every story conceived: the hero’s journey. This concept allows for a comprehensive, logical flow throughout a movie. Once the hero’s journey is thoroughly understood, anyone can pick out the elements in nearly every piece. The hero’s journey follows a simple outline. First the hero in question must have a disadvantaged childhood. Next the hero will find a mentor who wisely lays out his/her prophecy. Third the hero will go on a journey, either literal or figurative, to find him/herself. On this journey the hero will be discouraged and nearly quit his/her quest. Finally, the hero will fulfill the prophecy and find his/herself, realizing his/her full potential. This rubric may be easy to spot in epic action films, but if upon close inspection is found in a wide array of genres, some of which are fully surprising.
Violet is a very cute, feminine name which fits the character’s role as the femme in the lesbian relationship. One could accentuate the fact that whenever Violet is away from Caesar, she appears to be less feminine. Also, whenever Violet is talking to men, her voice becomes high-pitched which seemingly makes her vulnerable ensuring her to be taken care of. This can be seen in many scenes from the film especially the scene where Caesar opens the briefcase and finds nothing in it except a stack of newspapers. In “The Ugliest Pilgrim,” Violet wants God to get one of his faith healers in Oklahoma to get rid of the scar that has divided her face since an accident when she was younger:
Violet has a deeper understanding of the society she lives in, and she also begins to question the corporations who run that society. When Violet was at the doctor’s she started to “think about things” (Anderson 80). Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology for many years. Joseph filled each stage of the journey very well. He accepted all the challenges he got and all the help he needed. He really knew how to fulfill all those stages. Like everyone goes through a heroic journey everyone has to have a story to tell. My story is very contrasty from Joseph’s because he really knew what all the stages meant. My hero's journey consists of my threshold crossing which was when I started depending on myself more than I did on others, my helpers/mentors like my parents, teachers,my sister and many more influential people in my life and my rewards were getting awards in school, having a nice family, and many friends.

In The Body Finder, Violet is very torn from her feelings and even more in her secret power. Though with this power comes a “Pulling sensation, the tugging that propelled her almost without her awareness” (Derting 59-60). Violets pull can be related to almost everyone. A pull to food, to succeeding. Everyone has their guilty pleasure; Violet’s pulls to the dead are the same thing. No one understands her pull, but it’s drawing her. Violet’s character is strong, independent and determined. Derting is trying to teach us to go for that pull, this can lead someone to success. Though the drive Derting is trying to teach us about can also lead to failure

The Hero’s Journey is a pattern of narrative that appears in novels, storytelling, myth, and religious ritual. It was first identified by the American scholar Joseph Campbell in his book A Hero with Thousand Faces. Campbell also discussed this pattern in his interview to Bill Moyers which was later published as a book The Power of Myths. This pattern describes the typical adventure of the archetype known as The Hero, the person who goes out and achieves great deeds. Campbell detailed many stages in the Hero’s Journey, but he also summarized the pattern in three fundamental phases: Separation, Ordeal, and Return that all heroes, in spite of their sex, age, culture, or religion, have to overcome in order to reach the goal. Alice in Wonderland, written by Lewis Carroll, provides a good example of the Hero's Journey. This story describes the adventures of Alice, a young English girl, in Wonderland. Although she lacks some of the stages identified by Campbell, she still possesses many of them that are necessary for a Hero to be considered a Hero.

These stories target typical connections that help us relate to ourselves as well as the “real world”.
Joseph Campbell defines a hero as “someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself ” (Moyers 1). The Hero’s Journey consists of three major parts: the separation, the initiation and the return. Throughout a character’s journey, they must complete a physical or spiritual deed. A physical deed involves performing a daunting and courageous act that preserves the well-being of another person. A spiritual deed calls for action that improves another individual’s state of mind. To conclude, the graphic novel Watchmen presents the non-fantastic representation of a superhero, implying that not all heroes are like Superman. This notion is explored within the novel by mentioning the realistic motives of the characters choosing to become superheroes, by Rorschach’s representation and through the heroic reactions of the New Yorkers to a street crime. These elements all contribute to Watchmen’s uniqueness and complexity as a superhero comic.
