My Green Light Throughout Life we all need a way to see our goals and hopes. Jay Gatsby in the Great Gatsby is kept going by symbolizing hope of his long lost relationship that he is reminded by the green light across the bay. I believe that the green light is also the reason that Mr. Gatsby has been able to become so wealthy through his hard work to try and compete with Tom Buchanan's wealth to win Daisy back. Without the green light Mr. Gatsby may not have been able to succeed in attaining his wealth or winning over Daisey, even though it came at a great price. While Mr. Gatsby's goals were known throughout the book it takes most people a lot of time to figure out theirs. Personally I have a few green lights that keep me striding towards my goals. Firstly my main goal is to go college and graduate ready for a good job. Currently I would like to be a chemical engineer, but I am still not positive that it is what I will want to be. While chemical engineering would be a fun job for me it will also make good money which I will want to spend as much of it as I can traveling and exploring the world. I have been fortunate enough throughout my childhood to be able to travel and it is one of my favorite things. Traveling the world will allow me to learn first hand about different cultures and traditions. This is another area where school motivates me, I get to learn a different language that will help me understand people in other countries. It will also allow me to visit beautiful places and landscapes, which I find great joy in. Furthermore, being able to ski and bike enjoying nature around the world seeing as much as I can. This is one of my greatest goals in life and gives me hope and motivation when I feel
