My Grandfather Influence

My Grandfather (on my mother’s side) was never able to receive a higher education because of the break out of war world 2. After my grandfather informed me about this I knew that I was going to go to college. I believe going to college and getting a degree is the most important choice a person can make in this day and age. Getting a degree gives one so many options to improve their life. Those can be getting a job that lets them live the life they want or to provide for one’s family. In my life I’ve had many other influences in going to college and getting a degree besides that it lets me get a nice job. My grandfather is a huge influence on my reasons to go to college. My Grandfather mentioned when I was young that I should always try my hardest at school and go to college. I always thought that he was being just because he wanted his grand-children to do well in life and live the life they wanted. It was until I turned 10 that I learned he had been imprisoned by the Nazi’s during the breakout out of World War 2 in Poland. My grandfather who was born in New York and grew up during the great depression was accepted to a very nice school in Poland and since his parents where from Poland he was more than happy go. When my grandfather got to Poland it was just a couple years before the war broke out. My grandfather got a job as a paper boy, not too soon after that Nazi’s Germany invade Poland, at first my grandfather wasn’t affected by the break out of war. Because he wasn’t Jewish so he had nothing to fear or so he thought. The school my grandfather was about to attend was close by the Nazi’s, unable to return to United States because of money issues he continued his work as a paper boy until a local German boy wanted the paper boy job and report my grandfather to the Nazi’s saying that he was an American spy. Soon after that my grandfather was taken away to (insert camp name).
