My High School Experience

Approximately two years, five months, and six days ago I stepped into high school as a grade nine oblivious as to what my four-year journey will hold ahead of me. Within the 3 years I’ve been here, I not only created new bonds and grew academically but by learning from my mistakes and achievements, I gained knowledge about myself. So far in my high school journey I have learned to devote time in developing real friendships and relationships, self-discipline, as well as getting involved to find myself through exploring different interests. After leadership camp in grade nine, I have felt more comfortable in high school and with my new friends. This is because the environment the leadership team has tried to surround the students with created opportunities for us to come out of our shells. From this experience, I realized that I enjoy partaking in leadership roles like helping others. Also, through my exploration in being involved, finding a mentor has enhanced my guidance in pursuing a passion of mine. For example, my dance teacher outside of school has continuously motivated me to strive for improvement, not only within dance but also other areas in life. Involving myself in new curriculums not only allowed me to discover new passions of mine but also gave me opportunities to create friends that share the same interests. An example of this would be musical theater because I am easily getting to know many students from grade ten to twelve due to our similar interests.
