Concussions and other head injuries are ongoing problems in athletes today, and have been problems in the past as well. Players and athletes who have had multiple concussions in sports often find their lives changed for the worst. As concussions that are not given enough time to heal can lead to long-term cumulative consequences, and also a significant increase in receiving another concussion. In order to prevent this, I feel that is necessary for athletes to be required to sit out for longer periods of time from any sports activities, so that they can heal completely and won't run the greater risk of getting seriously injured again. The big game should never outweigh a player's future or their well being.

Head related injuries in sports need extra time to heal, in order for athletes to be healthy and play at their best. Approximately 10% of athletes take more than 7 days to recover from the effects of a concussion. However, there is such thing as post-concussion syndrome, which includes symptoms like headaches, dizziness, irritability and depression that can continue to persist for more than 6 weeks afterwards. If athletes don't receive the necessary time that is needed to heal the head trauma, it may lead to long-term cumulative consequences, such as an increase in headaches. In fact, a good amount of former professional sports athletes find themselves with frequent migraines or headaches that were caused by past concussions in contact sports. The fact of the matter is, concussions are things that should be taken with precaution, and it is best not return to play too early because of the risk of a second concussion or injury. This in turn, could lead to permanent problems that could very well effect the future lives of athletes like others before
