When I signed up to watch the play “Café Society”, I was expecting the play to take place in a café with a concept and a story line that revolves around or portrays the society of today. The play was held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8:00 PM and it was located at the Odyssey Theater. When watching movies on television, I noticed a dress code on what to wear at a play. On television, people wore suits and dresses and it was very formal. However, when looking online regarding the theaters dress code, it said to dress semi casual. When looking up the length of the play, I was kind of surprised. I thought plays were supposed to be two to four hours long with an intermission. The outside of the Odyssey Theater had “Odyssey theater ensemble” in bright blue letters to help people find it while driving. I attended the play on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8:00 PM. When first stepping into theater front, it was different that I expected. It was extremely small and had two people assisting with ticket confirmations for different plays once walking inside. On the right side, there was a small food area where they served drinks and small sweets such as cappuccinos, Twizzlers, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, chips and some alcoholic drinks. After talking to one of the assistance, they gave me a booklet and told me they will announce “Café Society” and I should follow them the person that is announcing it. Once the person announced “Café Society Play!” people started to line up and we followed the person inside. We did not receive any tickets, however, after checking in with the assistance people, we receive a booklet. That booklet was our ticket to see the show. After getting inside the theater, I saw the set which immediately reminded me of the inside of Starbucks. They even had the logo and they had projectors with the Starbucks menu and the prices. Each actor wanted to portray what they were going through with their lives. For an example, the struggling actress named Kari wanted to go to her gig even when she was hostage so she attempted to leave while hostage. The actors wanted to achieve a relationship with the audience regarding the struggles they were going through each their lives. Kari with the lack of a committed acting job, Jeff with the lack of a play write, Darnell with the lack of finishing college and working as a barista, Bob as a finance guy that had struggles because of a stock market, Marilyn that wants on a jest on closing a deal on a house, and the Homeless man who was a CEO of a company but after the crash became homeless and homeless schizophrenic man, who self-identifies as the late Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia. Each other showed the struggle of their daily lives to make a living. In the play Café Society, the person that stood up for what he believed in was the bomber. The reason the bomber wanted to blow up the Starbucks was because he wanted to make a statement about how many small businesses Starbucks is destroying. However, he did not think through his actions when he said he wanted to blow up the Starbucks on Pico because at the end he ended up having a bowling ball in his bag so he lost all his leverage over his
