The Americans’ landing on the moon has always attracted the attention of millions of people worldwide. This spellbinding journey has always interested the world as it is not a day-to-day exploration and is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For the past years there has been a heated debate on whether this expedition actually took place or if it was just a huge hoax.
Eventhough reaching the moon is a great achievement, would NASA fake such an important milestone in human history just to beat the Soviet Union?
On July 20, 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin allegedly walked on the moon. Some, believe it was faked just to beat the Soviet Union in the race to the moon whilst others think otherwise. As NASA and many others experts explained the flag only moved because of the astronaut who placed it down and they were to have supposedly bent the poles that kept the flag up; imitating a waving flag. In addition, the astronaut, Charlie Duke, from the Apollo 16 mission said,: “ We have been to the moon nine times. Why would we fake it nine times, if we faked it?”
Another argument that proved that the moon landing did happen was that even though the Soviet Union was racing the Americans to the moon, they never pointed out anything which proved that the expedition never took place. Out of all the people in the world, these would have found something first.
Not only that but Apollo 11 also brought back with it many different materials. In all, astronauts collected 22 kilograms of material, including 50 rocks, samples of the fine-grained lunar "soil," and two core tubes that included material from up to 13 centimetres below the Moon's surface. If in fact they did fake the trip to the moon, why would they risk it by creating so many rock samples? It just wouldn’t make any
