Introduction Do you like fairytales? If so, then you will really like Beastly, modern-day fairytale like nothing you’ve ever seen. Well, it is like the well known fairytale, Beauty and the Beast. In fact, it retells the story from the beast’s view. The book is a total success and very different from the movie, and I think the novel is way better. Let me explain why. Beastly - The Novel When you think of the word “beastly”, you might think of other words like “savage”, “killer”, “extreme”, or maybe “ugly.” If so, you are only scratching the surface of this remarkable book, written by Alex Finn. Even though it has no illustrator, I personally think that it doesn’t need one. That way, you can imagine what the beast looks like instead of limit your creativity. This fictional book retells the fairytale Beauty and the Beast set in modern-day New York City from the view of the beast. I chose this book because I LOVE Beauty and the Beast. To be honest, the book did have a few “naughty words”, but the romance was breathtaking. For those of you who love fairytales, this is a real page turner. Beastly - The Film The …show more content…
It is obvious that this is a fairytale, thus should be read, not watched. The book is better because it has more detail so you can imagine it your own way. And the book doesn’t have as many “naughty words” as the movie. Plus the book has more action than the movie. The movie doesn’t have the magic mirror when the book does. Conclusion When you are looking for a book to read, I totally would recommend this book. It has action, adventure, romance, surprises, and plenty of life lessons that you and the characters can learn. So, in conclusion, If you are a fairytale lover, adventure seeker, or simply love Beauty and the Beast, you will love this book. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t watch the movie at all, I’m just saying that the book is better than the
This is my view on the movie and book. I likes the movie better the book because the
Additionally, the sisters in the story only wanted jewels, blamed Beauty for their dilemma, and acted as if Beauty did not exist when she came back whereas the brothers, “begged her to stay,” “declared that nothing should make them let her go,” and even offered to fight the beast when it were to come to take Beauty. Therefore making the women seem catty, weak, materialistic, but making the men appear as brave, strong, and caring. Again, the story presents misogynist views that are unhealthy to society. Lastly, the beast projects anti-feminist views. Although the beast speaks politely after Beauty refuses his marriage proposal, he repeatedly asks her and completely disrespects her answer. As mentioned before, women were treated horrible the era the story was written in making this story acceptable at the time, but presently this story should not be read to children. For many years, people viewed Beauty and the Beast as an uprising from misogyny, but when analyzing from a feminist perspective it is clear that the story is the complete
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
The book and the movie were both very good. The book took time to explain things like setting, people’s emotions, people’s traits, and important background information. There was no time for these explanations the movie. The book, however, had parts in the beginning where some readers could become flustered.
Overall I think this is a great book. I would recommend this book to others but you would have to read the first two books before this one. I would recommend this book because it has a great story line and there is never a dull moment.
He is willing to sacrifice himself so his daughters can live in peace. Beauty offers herself up to the Beast. Poor, kind-hearted Beauty could not bear for her father to be at the Beast’s mercy, so she goes in his place. Beauty is a strong, compassionate girl who will risk her life for the ones she loves. When Beauty is with the Beast she is content with her life. She thinks the Beast is ugly and not that smart, and is still fearful of him, but she grows comfortable in his presence. As she spends more time with the Beast she also becomes more comfortable with herself and what she wants. Beauty isn’t afraid to ask Beast for something she wants, like seeing her father. While Beauty has been with the Beast her father has been dying of grief, with no one to take care of him. Beauty makes a promise to return to the Beast after a week, but her jealous sisters manipulate her into staying, and, of course, gentle Beauty just can’t leave her family behind. When Beauty finally returns to Beast she confesses to loving him, flaws and all, and Beast turns into a handsome, smart, man for Beauty to live with and
Therefore I will recommend it. I find the book enthralling, because of its underlying insurrectionary principle that just because someone announces their intentions and gets validation from other people, doesn’t mean you have to accept as right and you can contrast with their intentions and ideas. The reason I find the movie attractive and would recommend it is that of the nostalgic and euphoric feeling you may get as Walt Disney brings such a great book to life in Motion picture. That’s why I would recommend the book and movie known as Escape to Witch
Beauty and the Beast centers on Belle who is desired by handsome but egocentric Gaston. Belle’s father, disappears on a journey to a local fair and becomes captive of the Beast. Belle bravely offers herself as an alternative hostage and Beast accepts. As his prisoner, Belle befriends Beast’s household of Enchanted Objects, all talking, walking furniture and kitchen utensils. Belle learns about how the Beast and his staff are all the victims of a witch’s curse that has transformed them. They fall in love during her hostage. In the end, Bella’s love reverses the spell on the Beast.
...amily she finds the true meaning of being brave and saves her family (“Brave”). I like this kind of movie instead of a man being the brave and independent one now the woman is. These are the kind of fairy tales that need to be told so that women do not feel the need to be weak and dependent on other people. If fairy tales slowly become more realistic then I think they are a good thing but teaching women to not be strong or if their not a size 0 and gorgeous, well that in my eyes is not okay.
I really liked this book! It was really fun to read. I saw the movie too but it was different than the book.
This book is a great book and it touches ones heart in ways you couldn't imagine. I seriously love this book because I love romantic stories and it's just so cute. The movie is good but the book is better.
According to Time Magazine, “There’s no fire, no passion and not much fun.” I have to disagree with this statement because I thought that movie was fun-filled and intriguing. As the movie was unraveling itself, it kept me on a rollercoaster with entertaining and emotional scenes; it kept me on the edge of my sear. I felt that the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe was an awesome work of profound ambition.
I chose to research the genre of fairytales because the genre retold by Grimm’s caught my attention. Fairytales in modern day usually have a happy ending after the good versus evil concept. Rapunzel specifically, isn’t told in its original form.Theres much more darkness and even though happily ever after is in play, not all fairytales end that way. Fairytales have much more depth than people realize in modern day. It portrays the real struggles we face growing up. In Rapunzel, her mother gave her away and she was raised by an enchantress who locked her away. This very much explains child abandonment or a child that has been given up for adoption and the things they face growing up.Theres a connection between these fairytales and real life situations .Fairytales have a way of expressing real life situations in a way that uses a few elements that help tell the story in a way children can understand. Some of the elements include: magic, morals, royalty and love.
Cocteau portrays the Beast in La Belle et La Bete as a fleeting image, that is, he affects the film without spending too much time on the screen. Rather then physically emerging, the Beast’s effects are psychological as the anguish of Belle and her family helps the audience to form an opinion of the Beast. By creating a dark and mysterious aura around the Beast, Cocteau affectively keeps the watcher enthralled by what he cannot see. The Beast only visits Beauty once during this day, and the anticipation of his arrival not only affects Beauty but the viewer as well.
A person can take a story and look at it from many ways. Fairy tales represent the transformation of young people. Beauty is transformed into a young woman; she passes through the stages successfully and in turn is able to love. Every story teaches a lesson and in this case more than one lesson is taught. Not only is the lesson of sexuality and maturity taught, an even more important lesson is taught. Beauty and the Beast shows that true love comes from within the inside and if it is meant to be it will prevail.
